A party fit for a queen at Lever Edge Care Home.
The ladies were keen to get in the jubilee spirit so, in preparation for their party 🥳on Friday, they all wanted to get their nails done💅, they all opted for the colours of the flag 🇬🇧 and went red, white and blue which they then proudly showed off. Later that day they took part in a royal themed quiz whilst enjoying delicious bowls of strawberries and cream🍓😋with a nice chilled glass of wine. John and Josie were delighted to be crowned the winners of the quiz; they couldn’t believe they’d won but said that since they love our Queen, they knew lots about her.
On Friday, the event they had been looking forward to had arrived, their Jubilee party which was being held on their terrace, and they had been blessed with good weather. The giddy residents all got sat down on the tables that had been laid with red, white and blue table cloths, with bunting fluttering above their heads, they were ready for the party to begin. It started with a very special visit from the queen herself who came round to each table to speak to all the residents and putting a smile on all their faces. They were then treated to a delightful afternoon tea style buffet prepared by the home’s cooks, Jeanette and Joanna, featuring, traditional sandwiches🥪, cream scones that were very kindly made by Gillian, whose mum lives in the home, Victoria sponge 🍰 chocolate corgi cake and the quintessentially English jelly and ice cream all the while having music to sing along to. The feast was completed with the champagne🥂 to make a toast to the Queen 👑celebrating her Platinum Jubilee. One of the homes residents, Iris said, “what a lovely day we have all had.” To which they all agreed.
What a wonderful way for the residents to celebrate the jubilee, they managed to replicate the feeling of the street party’s they would have enjoyed when they were younger but in their home.
