Busy Bee Gardening Project and Seven Acres Men in Sheds have recently received some very touching feedback from Turton Primary Care Network and a mum whose son attends and we wanted to share it with you.
"St Chads has had such an impact on the patients I have signposted. As a social prescriber it is very difficult to find somewhere within the Turton area which can accommodate and adapt to assist an adult with any form of mild learning difficulties. St Chads (Geoff in particular) welcomed myself and my colleague to look around and see what was available for our patients. I then got two referrals for two young gentlemen who both had mild learning difficulties. From the start Geoff welcomed them to the groups, and most importantly kept them engaged. St Chads and Seven Acres Men in Sheds adapted and accommodated to their needs on an individual basis which in turn maintained their independence. The impact this had on one particular patient stretched to his family carer who now has time to herself knowing her son is in safe hands and enjoying himself twice a week. I cannot stress the impact this has in being a lifeline for patients who would normally be left to live a solitary life. St Chads is now my 'go to' referral for any social inclusion. The work they do goes over and above."

"Joseph is absolutely loving his experience with men in sheds. Neil seems to be his mentor and has worked with Joseph on a couple of projects, allowing him to explore and express his creative talents. Martin has been very thorough in assessing Joe’s ability to work safely in the environment. Geoff though mainly involved in the horticulture side, was our first point of contact and as such has been very welcoming and guided Joseph to the right team, and still shows interest in his achievements. I cannot praise everybody enough. Joseph is preparing to leave Lifebridge this summer, the 19-25 educational provision for adults with EHCP. I am very grateful, at this major crossroads in his life, that Joseph seems to have slotted right in with “Seven Acres Men in sheds” at St Chad’s. Thank you so much"
Elspeth Henry, Joe's mum.
