Maintenance Massages - what’s the big deal?
Anyone who takes part in any form of physical activity will definitely benefit from a Maintenance massage.
Think of it like getting an MOT.
Maintenance massages check all the muscles and tendons in your ankles, legs, knees, hips, Back, shoulders, neck, arms. Releasing knots that have built up along the course of your chosen physical activity.
A client came to me with Sciatia like symptoms which caused sleepless nights, and pain throughout the day. They where releaved to find it wasn’t sciatica at all and in fact soft tissue tension.
Another client came with a bad back, after treating the cause, providing rehab exercises they now book in for a regular maintenance massages to release tension in the neck and shoulder. Their job means tension is built up in their back and shoulders over time which causes the headaches. By having a regular maintenance massage this keeps the headaches at bay.
Another client comes in for Plantar Fasciitis treatments, releasing the calf and sole of the foot is providing ongoing relief and will soon have them pain free.
Another client books weekly due to a heavy training schedule to keep all their muscles flexible and to help prevent injuries from occurring.
Knots are often felt more when they cause you pain, when they start to stop your daily activities. Maintenance massages find them before they start to cause issues, start to break them down before they restrict to much of the blood supply in the muscle. If left knots that become to server can then lead to injuries, they restrict the blood supply in the muscle, start to cause inflammation and pain.
From walking in the park to running a Marathon, from light exercise to competitive sports, from hairdressing to dog grooming, from sitting at a desk all day to having a physically active job.
A maintenance massage is for anyone who wants to stay flexible, continue to exercise and to keep their range of motion.
You don’t need to be a sporting person to get a sports massage.

I specialise in Hot & Cold Stone Sports therapy. The heat from the stone helps the muscles to relax whilst sports massage techniques are applied via the hot stones - this helps the muscles to relax making the treatments less uncomfortable. I then use cryotherapy via chilled marble to reduce inflammation and ease any discomfort the client came in with. It’s a different way to have a sports massage and all my clients say they would never have a sports massage with out the Hot Stones again.
