Bolton Hospice

Bolton Hospice Providing expert care & support for the people of Bolton who have terminal and life-limiting illnesses, and their families.
(272)

We're an independent charity, and our services are free. Our team of doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide specialist care and support for local people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home. We provide care throughout a patient’s illness, so they achieve the best possible quality of life. This includes end of life care, helping

them to achieve a good death. We're a charity mainly funded by local people. Together we need to raise around £4 million a year to continue to provide our services for free.

Our Bolton Hospice Lottery rollover prize continues to grow! 📈

The £8,000 jackpot hasn’t been won this morning, meaning we add another £200 to the prize pot and there’s £8,200 up for grabs next week! 🤑

Don’t forget, it absolutely has to be won at £10,000 if not before, so it really is the most exciting and tantalising time to join our lottery EVER!

We've got a lot of shout outs this week! We're also saying a big thank you to...

St James School Leadership Circle who've been selling handmade gifts. Last week they called into the hospice to see what exactly their fundraising will go towards and very kindly gave staff some of the gifts they made!

David Williams ran the Chorley 10K and achieved his sub 50 minute target. He's raised an amazing £617!

Henighans BAR & GRILL, Little Lever held a charity night and raised a fantastic £877.00!

The Globe at Egerton have continued their ongoing fundraising, reaching a new total of £3219!

And thank you to Ruth Porteous who collected for Bolton Hospice at her birthday celebrations.

Thank you to each and every one of this week's fundraisers. If you've been fundraising don't forget to tag us in your photos show us what you've been up to! 💜

It's the start of Hospice UK's Dying Matters Week, an important week for hospices up and down the country as we aim to break down the stigma and taboo of talking about death and dying, and this year is no different.

2026's Dying Matters Week will see us explore some of the important conversations you can have with your loved ones about death and dying. Throughout the week, we'll be speaking to a number of our staff, volunteers, and families, as we share helpful tools for broaching those difficult conversations 💜

Meet the duo deliberately making their fundraising "difficult"... 🚲

Cyclists Jack O’Meara and Adam Hall decided “after a bet in the pub” to cycle the 127-mile route along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

They were given bikes, did no real training, gave themselves just 24 hours for the mammoth task and began it straight after work. They faced very poor weather conditions and actually went alongside the wrong stretch of water for a time.

However, with support from their families, friends, employers and work colleagues plus pals at Sam’s Bar in Horwich, they ultimately raised £1,300 for the Hospice.

On 20th May 2026, they’re taking on another similar challenge in the 170-mile route of the Way of the Roses from Morecambe to Bridlington.

“We’ve not really made great plans again,” said Jack. “We’ve not even got our bikes yet but we’ll be fine. We’re doing it for a really good cause and that’s all that matters.”

Thank you lads and good luck! 💜
