This week is Mitochondrial Disease week 2025, so today at Beaumont Hospital we wore green, to recognise an amazing charity, The Lily Foundation.

The Lily Foundation fundraises to help mitochondrial disease patients gain the support and treatment they need to improve their life post diagnosis. They are also working hard to fund research that will hopefully one day lead to a cure for the disease.

Today we raised awareness for World Sepsis Day 2025.

Amy, our Practice Based Educator, Sarah, our IPC Lead and Rachel, our Masters Student Nurse, organised a ‘Tea and Training’ session for our teams across the hospital. Staff were encouraged to come for a hot drink and a cake, to learn about the signs of sepsis and its treatments.

Remember:

S - Slurred speech or confusion
E - Extreme shivering or muscle pain
P - Passing no urine (in a day)
S - Severe breathlessness
I - It feels like you’re going to die
S - Skin mottled or discoloured
