I just had to share the below, written by my friend .I couldn't have put it better myself!
🧠 MINDSET 🧠
Do you know what is the foundation of all our emotions and actions? 🤔
The answer is our thoughts. That’s why I thought hard about the power of thoughts this week and how you can make them your ally rather than your enemy. So don’t think too much, and keep reading … :-)
It’s 1954. Athletes all around the world thought it was completely unthinkable to run a mile in less than four minutes. No one had ever run so fast. Medics and scientists were very sure: it was impossible for the human body, the heart wouldn't accelerate enough, bones and muscles would break down. Athletes believed the doctors and nobody would even try.
Except for one: the Englishman Roger Bannister. He just didn't get the memo and so, in the year 1954, he ran the English Mile in exactly 3 minutes and 59 seconds for the first time ever. 🏃
If your reaction is now “Yawn 🥱 … another story of some over-achiever who performs miracles I never will”, then relax. This isn’t the most exciting part of this story, what follows is way more interesting:
Within the same year, after Roger Bannister did the impossible with this new world record, 37 more athletes suddenly also ran the mile in this time. And a year later, 300 people managed to do the exact same thing. What was once unthinkable, was from one moment to the next not only thinkable but doable.
This story shows how powerful it can be if we believe in limitations or goals. Facts are facts, but our thoughts about them can be a brake or an accelerator.
💪🏼 THE CHALLENGE 💪🏼
Be friends with your inner filter
If you ask yourself “but, how can I put the theory of thoughts into practice?”
Here is the answer: become friends with your RAS. It’s short for your brain’s Reticular Activating System. The brain processes more than 400 million bits of information per second, but only 2000 of those pe*****te your consciousness. 99,9995% of the information remains unnoticed. Your RAS extracts only those things that are important to you. So it’s your filter for your reality.
With very little training you can focus your RAS on everything you want to improve in your life. Not convinced yet? Remember the last time you bought some new shoes. Did you notice how many people had the exact same or similar shoes? Or the last time you set up an apartment. Remember how much your eye was focused on furniture everywhere?
Use this filter and do your RAS a favor every morning. If you focus on things that make you happier 😀 you will achieve more.
In addition to this, use your perspective, You've heard there's two sides to every story right? 📖 Well, there's always another way of looking at your situation, try and see things more in a glass half full rather than half empty perspective 🥃
Here is the thing: happy people are 30 % more productive and creative than people with a brain in a neutral state of mind!
