1. Stay Hydrated - Drink plenty of fluids, particularly water, throughout the day to prevent dehydration. Limit alcohol and caffeine intake, as these can contribute to fluid loss.

2. Seek Shade and Avoid Peak Sun Hours - Try to stay indoors or in shaded areas during the hottest part of the day, typically between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., to reduce the risk of heat exhaustion and sunburn.

3.Wear Appropriate Clothing and Sun Protection - Cover up with lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and wear a wide-brimmed hat and UV-protective sunglasses. Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 on exposed skin, reapplying every two hours.

4.Monitor for Signs of Heat-related Illness - Be alert to symptoms such as excessive sweating, headache, dizziness, nausea, or muscle cramps. If these occur, move to a cooler place, hydrate, and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.

5.Take Care of Vulnerable Populations - Ensure that children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions stay cool and well-hydrated. Check on vulnerable individuals regularly and assist them in managing the heat.

The forecast comes after temperatures soared to 8C above the average for this time of year on Saturday - bringing the final day of meteorological spring to a suitably hot close.

Given the enhanced support we are providing to children at RHS, it is essential that we offer reassurance through clear guidance and responsible engagement with social media. As part of our approach, we aim to create a safe and trusting environment where children feel supported, understood, and empowered. By providing age-appropriate information and fostering open communication, we can help children navigate their experiences confidently while promoting healthy social media habits that contribute to their overall well-being.
