What’s actually happened
• National Car Parks (NCP) has entered administration (March 2026)
• That means it’s insolvent and can’t pay its debts, but it’s not immediately shut down
• Around 680 jobs are at risk and the company has £300m+ debt

What “administration” means for you
• Car parks are still open and operating as normal (for now)
• An administrator (PwC) is trying to:
• Sell the business
• Restructure it
• Or close unprofitable sites

Why it happened?

Main reasons:
• Less people commuting (remote work impact)
• City-centre parking demand dropping
• High fixed rents + energy costs

What could happen next?
• Some individual car parks may close
• The whole company could be sold to another operator
• Or it gets restructured and continues under new ownership
