We are delighted to be bringing the virtual dementia experience to Bolton town centre on Monday 18th May during Dementia Awareness Week.
The dementia experience allows a person with a healthy brain to experience what life might be like for a person living with dementia.
Supported by medical research, the free 15 minute experience which takes place on a state-of-the-art ‘dementia bus’, uses technology to replicate the sensory changes associated with dementia. Participants wear googles, headphones and spiky insoles. They are then asked to perform everyday tasks but with distorted vision, loud noises and sensory overload which recreates what it can be like living with dementia.
The immersive experience is followed by a debrief to understand what you have just experienced as well as useful tips and strategies to make the world a better place for people living with dementia.
The unique insight offered by the dementia experience makes it ideal for anyone who has a family member or friend living with dementia or comes into contact with people living with the condition.
Entrance to the Dementia Bus must be booked in advance and places are limited! To book, please email us at dementiabus@bolton.homeinstead.co.uk or call 01204 565065.
