Things every chiropractor wants to tell you … 🙃

1. Your posture didn’t ruin your back - your habits did. Slouching occasionally isn’t the problem; sitting all day, never moving, and ignoring your body’s niggles is

2. Cracking your own neck and back isn’t helping. You’re probably moving the same already-loose joints, not fixing the ones that actually need attention

3. Your spine needs consistency. Like every good thing in life, consistency is key to upkeep progress

4. You can’t out-adjust a bad lifestyle. If you’re not sleeping, hydrating, or exercising, no amount of chiropractic work will ‘fix’ you

5. Pain is the last thing to show up - and the first to go. Just because you FEEL better doesn’t mean you ARE better. Healing continues long after the pain’s gone

6. Your desk setup is wrecking you. That £20 office chair and hunching over your laptop every day? A nightmare

7. You need to move more - not just stretch. Strengthening your core, glutes, and back muscles is key. Flexibility alone won’t stabilise your spine

8. SLEEP MORE! You literally spend 1/3 of your life asleep, so prioritise your sleep setup

9. Ignoring your pain doesn’t make you tough - it makes recovery longer. The earlier you deal with it, the easier it is to fix

10. You need to get outside more. Movement is medicine, if you’re sitting all day, don’t be surprised that your neck, back, hips, shoulders + more hurt

Ever had your knee tapped with that little hammer? 👀 That’s called the patellar reflex test - and it tells us a lot about how your nervous system is working ⚡️

When a chiropractor taps just below your kneecap, it stretches your tendon and sends a signal up to your spinal cord, which instantly sends one back down to your muscles, making your leg kick.

We test it to make sure your reflex arc (the pathway between your muscle and spinal cord) is working properly. A weak or absent response can mean nerve issues around L2–L4, while an overactive one can hint at something higher up, like the brain or upper spinal cord.

Basically, it’s a quick, simple way to check if your nerves and spinal cord are talking like they should 🧠💪
