Less than half of neurodivergent employees have disclosed their status to their employer*.
That is a big chunk of people who don’t feel comfortable sharing a bit part of their life with their employer. If I am honest, I have only disclosed my status with a couple of employers and only then in the last 3-4 years when, arguably, I was in a position of greater power.
If this is you, you might be asking yourself two questions:
1. How can I advocate for myself, I’m not an expert in this!
2. How can I get access to help when I don’t even know what will help me?
Coaching has been shown to increase people’s confidence in explaining their needs and negotiating support. It can also help you find the accommodations that are right for you through discussions of your strengths and the adaptions you have probably made without realising.
