We are proud to welcome Mr Husam Elghalhud – Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon to Freedom Vision Bromley.

With over 20 years of experience and more than 30,000 cataract surgeries performed, Mr Elghalhud specialises in cataract surgery, premium lens implantation, and complex cases, alongside refractive procedures such as LASIK, PRK, lens exchange, and ICL lenses. He also offers expertise in medical retina, glaucoma, dry eyes, and macular degeneration.

Trained at the Queen Victoria Hospital, Sussex, and with specialist experience across London and Kent, Mr Elghalhud has held leadership roles as Retina and Theatre Lead, supervises trainee surgeons, and is an Examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Known for introducing innovative treatments and improving surgical outcomes, he brings both expertise and passion to patient care.

After cataract surgery, some patients may notice a haze forming in their vision - sometimes called a secondary cataract.

It happens when a thin layer develops on the lens capsule, which is a normal part of recovery. While it can make vision feel a bit different, it can be treated with a YAG laser procedure, a quick and straightforward in-clinic treatment.

If your cataract surgery was with Freedom Vision, this follow-up procedure is included free within the first year. YAG treatment is also available separately for other patients.
