The flu vaccine is recommended for people at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu.

It’s offered on the NHS every year in autumn or early winter.

You can get the free NHS flu vaccine if you:

are aged 65 or over (including those who will be 65 by 31 March 2026)
have certain long-term health conditions
are pregnant
live in a care home
are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer’s allowance

Taking antibiotics when you don’t need them puts you and your family at risk. To help keep antibiotics working you are urged to always take your doctor or nurse’s advice on antibiotics. The overuse of antibiotics in recent years means they’re becoming less effective and has led to the emergence of “superbugs”. Both the NHS and health organisations across the world are trying to reduce the use of antibiotics, especially for health problems that are not serious in order to ensure they are effective when used correctly 💊
