As Bonfire Night and firework displays approach, it’s important to remember that what’s exciting for us can be deeply distressing for our pets. The loud bangs, bright flashes, and unfamiliar smells can cause real anxiety and it’s not just one night. Fireworks can often go on for days or even weeks, meaning pets can be unsettled for long periods of time.

At Devotion Pets, we truly understand how worrying this can be. As a family-run service, we’ve been there ourselves comforting our own pets through those restless evenings when the skies are filled with unexpected bursts of noise. That’s why we want to share some gentle reminders to help keep them calm and reassured this season:

🐾 Keep pets indoors: Close windows, doors, and curtains to reduce noise and flashing lights.

🐾 Create a safe space: A quiet, cosy area helps them feel secure and in control.

🐾 Use background noise: Play calming music or leave the TV on to mask the sound of fireworks.

🐾 Avoid leaving them alone: Your presence provides comfort and reassurance.

🐾 Walk dogs early: Take them out before dark, when fireworks are less likely.

🐾 Support small animals: Bring hutches or cages indoors, or cover them with a thick blanket (allowing ventilation).

🐾 Check ID and microchips: If startled, they might try to run away; make sure they can be easily reunited with you.
