Exam Stress
Are you worried about your teenager's stress levels during exam time?
Revision can bring pressure, stress and anxiety.
Many young people struggle to talk about how they're feeling and bottle things up inside.
Signs they may be struggling:
😴 sleep problems
😣 difficulty concentrating
😠 irritable or angry
🤐 becoming distant
🤢 changes in eating habits
🤕 more sensitive than usual
Your support can make a huge different - here's how you can help.
🏠keep home calm. Create a relaxed supportive atmosphere
💬 lead with connection, not interrogation. Don't push them for answers. Start with reassurance - sometimes a hug and 'it's ok to not be ok' goes a long way
📱small positive changes. Encourage helpful routines - getting changed after school, limiting phone time, take proper breaks
📝 positive visualisation. Encourage them to picture themselves walking into the exam calmly, setting up their desk and completing the paper confidently.
🌷support their environment. Keep clutter low, let in natural light, add plants, and keep healthy snacks available.
But more important than anything - remind them that the exam is only one part of their life.
Their worth is not defined by grades. Whatever happens, there are always other paths to success.
