is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the vital role all nurses play in delivering high-quality care. It highlights their dedication, compassion and the positive impact they have on patients, families and communities.

We interviewed one of our own, Sylvia Jones, who is a nurse at the Health Hive…

What does being a nurse mean to you day to day?
“My role in nursing is very rewarding. I care for patients, provide health advice, and support them in making lifestyle changes, which I find very satisfying. After many years in the profession, every day brings new challenges, and that’s what makes me love my job.”

What impact do you feel nurses have beyond clinical care?
“As a nurse, my role goes beyond caring for patients. We also support their families, guide them through decisions, and signpost them to other services so they receive the best possible care and appropriate follow-up support.”

What keeps you motivated in your role?
“Helping patients and encouraging them to make positive health choices keeps me motivated. Seeing the outcomes of their progress inspires me every day.”

HUGE congratulations to two of our staff members for their recent marathon and fundraising activities.

Both participants took part to raise awareness and funds for important health charities, as well as to share personal stories of resilience and hope:

Sue Higson - "On Sunday April 26th I ran in the London Marathon for The Christie Charity to give something back to the hospital that continues to care for me and so many others affected by cancer. Three years ago, I was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer and underwent life-changing surgery. It was fitting that the marathon was on the 3rd anniversary of that surgery, and one that I hope gives others facing similar diagnoses, hope”.

Ireland Hackett - "I ran the Manchester Marathon for the in honour of my dad, who has shown incredible strength living with heart failure and facing multiple operations and procedures. I have never been a runner, so pushing myself to take on and complete such an enormous challenge, is something I never believed I was capable of, has been an incredible achievement and a moment I’ll always be proud of."

Both Sue and Ireland surpassed their fundraising targets and were superstars!
