Most children and young people are given
the flu vaccine as a nasal spray into each
nostril. It’s quick, easy and painless. There’s
no need to sniff or inhale the vaccine, it’ll just
feel like a tickle in their nose.

If your child is of school age, look out for consent forms being sent home. If you child is aged between 2-5, an invite will be posted out to your home address.

Why it’s important for students to be vaccinated?

Shared accommodation, large gatherings, and close contact make college and university settings ideal environments for the spread of infectious diseases. Staying on top of your vaccines is one of the most effective ways to reduce your risk of becoming seriously ill from diseases like measles and meningitis.

If you are unsure of your vaccination status, you can contact your local immunisation team: https://www.nhsinform.scot/healthy-living/immunisation/getting-your-vaccinations

We want to inform our patients that due to GP sickness, we are not able to offer routine appointments this week and next. We are only able to offer a limited number of emergency appointments each day. We have managed to secure some locum cover but unfortunately when we reach safe working limits we must take into account our patient and practice team safety and direct our patients to other services.
If you have an urgent medical problem that you believe cannot wait, you should seek help from other NHS agencies including NHS 24 on 111 or through accident and emergency department.
Should you have a minor illness – please contact your local pharmacy. They have a range of conditions that you can get help for; https://www.stratheskmedicalpractice.co.uk/nhs-pharmacy-first-scotland
Please be aware that we can arrange routine practice nursing appointments up to 4 weeks in advance should you require a BP review/smear test/coil fitting or removal/diabetes/asthma or COPD reviews.
We also have an advanced physiotherapy practitioner that can deal with muscle, bone or joint issues. They can diagnose, refer or offer pain management.
Should you be struggling with your mental health such as low mood, anxiety, or stress, you can book a telephone appointment with our primary care mental health nurse.
We would also like to remind you to be kind to our admin staff who are working under extreme pressures at the moment.
Thank you for your understanding at this very difficult time.

UPDATE:
The power is back on and we are contactable again.

The surgery is experiencing a power cut. This has resulted in us not being able to receive any calls. Mobile service is also down in the area so we are unable to divert to our mobiles.

If you are in need of medical attention, please call NHS 24 on 111.

Please note this has impacted Quarryfoot Medical Practice, Dalhousie Medical Practice and all other services in the Bonnyrigg Health Centre.

We will update you once this has been resolved.

Please share.

Thank You.

Unfortunately we have been unsuccessful in securing locum GP’s to cover all of our August annual leave.
This means that WB 04/08/25 we will have to run as emergency clinics only most days.
This is the only week in August that we are predicted to be short, the remainder of the month is planned to have more availability for routine appointments.
Please remember that your local pharmacy can treat minor ailments under Pharmacy First Scotland. Details of what they can treat can be found here: https://www.nhsinform.scot/care-support-and-rights/nhs-services/pharmacy/nhs-pharmacy-first-scotland
