The latissimus dorsi (lats) are large back muscles that connect your mid-to-lower spine to your upper arm. When they get tight, they can limit movement and even cause pain. A lat release (through stretching, massage, or foam rolling) helps loosen this muscle and improve function. Reduced Back & Shoulder Pain
Lat tightness can contribute to:
Lower back discomfort
Shoulder impingement
Releasing the lats reduces strain across these areas. Enhanced Breathing
The lats assist with breathing (they connect to the rib cage).
Loosening them allows better rib expansion
Can improve deep breathing capacity
Increased Athletic Performance
Especially useful for:
Weightlifting
Climbing
Swimming
Throwing sport
