Over the last two weeks I have had so many conversations in my clinic that really show that for many working from home is having a significant impact on physical health.
YES, I deal with sports injuries and trauma, but so many of my patients have pain that has slowly built up and WORKING FROM HOME is often a cause.
All of my patients, think that it is only effecting them, but I KNOW that at least three times a week, ANOTHER patient will come in and mention the same thing.
I've been reflecting on why this happens so often.
😦It seems to be a combination of PRESSURE from work, PRESSURE that people place on themselves and PRESSURE from life.
AND
😔Experiencing feelings of GUILT and SHAME for prioritising well-being.
If this is YOU, know your not alone 🥰
Start with small things to help
⭐️Create, if possible a separate office space you can pack up or leave at the end of the day.
⭐️Set a timer to help you stand up every 30 minutes, have a WIGGLE, or just DANCE for a minute to get the blood flowing
⭐️Set a time to have regular 15 minute breaks
⭐️ Speak to your team or boss, you will not be the only one on your team who needs this. Maybe you can all take a break at the same time.
⭐️Buy waterproofs and go for a walk at lunch or after work
⭐️Organise a good work station, at minimum a laptop stand, separate keyboard and mouse

Welcome to Borehamwood Physio. I have 19 years experience as a physiotherapist and having worked in the NHS and private practice I have opened up my own clinic in Borehamwood.
As a physiotherapist I am keen to get to the root cause of any problem. I am passionate about exploring the cause of your symptoms.
The aim of assessment and treatment being to gain a full understanding of the presenting problem to reduce the incidence of future recurrence. I work with you to ensure the best possible outcome, so that you can return to full health and fitness and engage in all your daily activities with confidence and take a holistic approach to patient care.
Treatment initially provides symptom relief through a combination of manual therapy, soft tissue work, acupuncture, advice and exercise. I will then focus on full restoration of function and prevention, this may include advanced rehabilitation, postural and ergonomic advice.I also run clinical Pilates classes and one-to-one lessons to focus on core strengthening www.pilates-in-motion.co.uk.
I work with a wide range of clients including back pain, neck pain, ante and post-natal pain, sports injuries, injury prevention for sport events such as marathons, post-surgical recovery and adult and paediatric musculoskeletal pain.
