Borth Reiki, Hypnotherapy & Counselling Services Supporting clients with their mental health in a supportive and confidential environment
(1)

My vision as a qualified counsellor and hypnotherapist is to serve the individual needs of each client and in turn create a world where trauma and anxiety are healed in a more compassionate way that leaves you, the client, feeling in control of your own healing. It is my belief that trauma and anxiety cannot be healed by talking alone and a more diverse, holistic approach brings with it a more compassionate way of healing which brings a real difference to the lives of clients. I have worked with Reiki since 2008 and have attuned over 100 students to this healing energy. Because I have a knowledge and understanding of energy and how that energy works on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level, I bring something new to psychotherapy. Through neuroscience and the use of EFT I can teach clients how to coregulate their own nervous system so that trauma and anxiety can be worked through in a safe therapeutic environment. I have worked with the tarot since 2001 and over that time became very interested in Jungian psychology. I have recently completed an area of study around using the tarot in therapy to help clients understand their unconscious processes. This has proven to be very valuable in clients understanding themselves at a deeper level. I chose this path because someone very close to me has a serious mental health illness along with a diagnosis of autism. There was very little choice of counsellors out there who were willing to work with my loved one on a holistic level. What he really needed was an approach which was more creative, where he could walk and talk with the therapist out in nature so he did not feel intimidated being in a closed room where his anxiety levels would inevitably rise. My loved one missed their needs being met in therapy because nobody was willing to think outside the box of what was thought of as traditional therapy. I believe that if a client is paying for a service, they should have a say in how they want their needs met and be offered a broader range of options. If you wish to choose the traditional way (and most clients do), then this is absolutely fine, but if you need something more diverse and therapeutic, you have the option to access this type of therapy with me. As a qualified counsellor and hypnotherapist, I am registered with the National Counselling and psychotherapy Society and the National Hypnotherapy Society. Their ethos is to support their members to approach these therapies as a vocation. I see my work as my soul purpose and maintain high levels of professionalism and confidentiality. I take continued professional development seriously and dedicate a lot of my free time to this to ensure I am able to keep up to date with new approaches and innovative new ways of bringing healing into the lives of my clients. I have regular supervision for both of these modalities and as such abide by the strict code of ethics outlined by the NCPS and the HS. My qualifications are:

I've really enjoyed my first 3 days of the creative counselling training. Creating a grounding creature, working with sand tray, symbols, metaphors, dreams, fresh ideas of working with trauma. Can't wait to start and integrate this into my face to face work and online work. Doodling, drawing, mandala's, tarot cards, crystals, I've literally been in my element. I've been integrating creativity for a year or so now but adding to my understanding and knowledge is always a good idea. Can't wait for next months training 😍

Thos blog will help you identify if IEMT or EMDR is for you. I get asked what the difference is all the time. Hopefully this helps to identify which one would be better for you:

Is Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) the Same as EMDR? Introduction Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) are frequently compared because they both use eye movements in therapeutic contexts. This surface-level similarity has led to ong

Finding practical solutions to everyday challenges

Looking after your own wellbeing

Maintaining a life outside of caring and connecting with others who share similar responsibilities

Understanding the needs of the person you care for

Accessing information and resources around finances, benefits, and services

Friendly and welcoming groups for young and adult carers

Activities and trips for young carers, adult carers, and families

Look how beautiful this wintry morning is ❄️

There’s something deeply sacred about this time of year. I’ve always loved winter — I even chose a winter wedding — despite the puzzled looks it sometimes brings.

Winter invites us inward. A season of stillness, reflection and listening to the quiet wisdom within. I don’t set New Year’s resolutions; instead, I set intentions, allowing them to unfold gently rather than forcing change.

With last night’s full moon, there is an opportunity to release what no longer serves — old patterns, heavy energies, and stories from the past — making space for clarity, renewal and trust in what’s to come.

Wishing you a peaceful, grounded Sunday and a Happy New Year 🌕✨

As I reflect on 2025, I’ve been thinking about how much has shifted — personally and professionally — since turning 50 and travelling to India at the start of the year. It was a journey that changed something deep within me and shaped how I now view happiness, simplicity, and connection.

This year has also been full of teaching, therapy, returning to trance healing, and preparing for new learning as I move into 2026. One of my key intentions for the year ahead is to bring more creativity into my therapy work — finding ways to support healing that go beyond words alone.

I’ve written a blog bringing all of this together, including what creative therapy really means in practice and how it can support deeper, more intuitive healing.

I'd like to say thank you so much to everyone who has donated this year through receiving distant healing and attending the Reiki Shares. Its difficult to know exactly how much was raised as many donate online, but we counted £150 in cash which I donated earlier on today. I'm still uncertain of the charity for next year but I'll let you know early January. 💕

I went to the Mind Body Spirit Festival on Friday and, after having my aura photo taken, I watched Paul McKenna. It really reminded me how different hypnosis and hypnotherapy actually are.

In the UK, the term “hypnotherapist” isn’t protected — which means anyone can call themselves one, even if they’ve only done a short course. Some people are really offering hypnosis, not hypnotherapy, and the difference matters.
Hypnosis
Great for things like:
✨ confidence
✨ simple phobias
✨ sleep
✨ performance
✨ habits
✨ straightforward weight loss
(no deeper issues attached)

Hypnotherapy
Needed when things are more complex, such as:
🔥 trauma-based phobias
🔥 obesity
🔥 addictions
🔥 eating disorders
🔥 anxiety linked to past experiences
These issues require therapy, not just suggestion work.

I trained in hypnotherapy over a full year of face-to-face learning, but it wasn’t until I completed my Level 4 counselling training that I was able to work safely with complex and trauma-related issues. That depth matters.
Because if you see a hypnotist for a phobia that was caused by trauma — and the trauma isn’t addressed — the symptom usually stays, shifts, or comes back.

This isn’t to put down hypnotists at all. Many are brilliant. Just check where your therapist did their training.

It’s simply to help you understand what kind of support you need depending on what you’re dealing with.

I hope this helps someone make a more informed choice. 💛 sharonleescounselling.co.uk
