🧠 Ever feel calm and connected one moment, but anxious or shut down the next? That’s your nervous system at work! 🌿 💙
According to Polyvagal Theory, our bodies shift between three states:
💚 Safe & Social (Ventral Vagal) – When we feel secure, we thrive! We connect, think clearly, and feel joy. This is the "window of tolerance" where healing happens.
🔥 Fight or Flight (Sympathetic Nervous System) – When we sense danger, our body mobilises. This can look like anxiety, anger, or restlessness. If we stay stuck here, we may feel constantly on edge.
❄️ Freeze (Dorsal Vagal) – When stress overwhelms us, our system shuts down to protect us. We may feel numb, fatigued, or disconnected from the world.
✨ The good news? You can train your nervous system to spend more time in the safe & social state—helping you heal both emotionally and physically.
💡 Small steps like deep breathing, gentle movement, and self-compassion can help regulate your system.
Your body isn’t broken—it’s just trying to keep you safe. Learning how your nervous system works is empowering and a crucial step in the mind-body healing journey. 💙
