Welcome to Aquarius season!
January 19 – February 18
Can you recognise the Aquarian in the room? It’ll be the quirky, lively individual, striking up conversation around progressive idealism, offbeat subjects and unconventional ideas; all delivered with a magnetic genius and sometimes shocking quality, worthy of fellow Aquarians, Galileo, Mozart, Lewis Carroll and … Harry Styles.
Funny, perverse and obstinate, but also gentle, kind and compassionate. With a desire to seek out truth and honesty, Aquarians often possess a sharp intuition giving them insight to the bigger picture.
Aquarius has a restless quality, a refusal to conform, a need for lots of space and freedom, room to experiment, along with mental stimulation. Ruled by both Saturn and Uranus means they can lean towards a more studious and serious perfectionist originality, or else become something of the eccentric revolutionary. Either way, Aquarians often feel to be something of a misfit, seeking out the comfort of a crowd or a group of friends, and however much they value their independence and periods of solitude, too much time alone can cause them to become a little morose, uncomfortably introspective or even lonely.
Essentially a humanitarian, always looking out for the underdog and promoting equality, fairness and liberty, our Aquarian is everyone’s friend. Genuinely interested in people, they thrive on conversation, learning and a sincere desire to help society and, if possible, save the world. Technology, innovation, engineering, social work and anything future-oriented will suit Aquarius. They’re generally way ahead of their time, leading the way forward.
Aquarius is an air sign, so communication, thinking and brain activity are key. Which leads us to the tricky matter of feelings and emotional intimacy. The Aquarian preference is to keep it light with friendship first, to test the waters and see how things develop. They also have a bit of a reputation to detach from feelings and relationships without so much as a backwards glance. But Uranian emotions can be chaotic, they run deep, they’re caught in the mind and can struggle to reach the heart. Expression of emotion doesn’t come naturally, the need for independence kicks in, Aquarius doesn’t like to feel stifled, and emotions are left wanting.
The thing is, our Aquarian is vulnerable too, emotions can feel disconcerting and certainly at odds to a campaign for the greater good. A shared vision for the future and common interests go a long way when it comes to love, but don’t expect any traditional romantic gestures. When they do find their ideal partner, Aquarius can offer loyalty, support and love, as well as being a best friend.
