🏆 Oakland Care Wins King’s Award for Enterprise 🏆

We are delighted to announce that Oakland Care has received The King's Awards for Enterprise in Sustainable Development.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious business awards in the UK, celebrating outstanding achievement in areas including innovation, sustainable development and social mobility.

Oakland Care has been recognised for its long-standing commitment to , with environmentally responsible practices embedded across all aspects of our operations, from energy efficiency and waste reduction to sustainable building design and biodiversity initiatives.

Music really is something special. It has a way of reaching people in ways that words sometimes can’t.

This lovely gentleman has faced real challenges with speech since his stroke, and at Maplewood we’re committed to supporting every resident through speech and language therapy because it truly makes a difference.

Today, Jade Roxanne Music & Wellbeing —who visits us every few weeks—spent some one-to-one time singing with him. What happened next was incredible… he came to life and sang his heart out alongside her. A moment none of us will forget.

As a team, we’ve decided to build on this by arranging for Jade to visit just for him. We hope this will continue to encourage his speech, boost his confidence, and bring him joy.

We couldn’t be prouder of our team and the care they show every single day.

Happy May Day! 🌼🌿

Today marks the traditional celebration of the first day of May — a festival of spring, renewal, and community spirit. May Day has been celebrated for centuries across Europe, often featuring dancing, music, and the crowning of a May Queen.

This morning, we were delighted to welcome the fantastic Kits Coty Morris Dancers. Morris dancing is a traditional English folk dance dating back to the 15th century, known for its rhythmic stepping, jingling bells, handkerchiefs, and sticks. Historically, it was performed to bring good luck and a bountiful season ahead — and it certainly brought plenty of smiles today! 💚

This afternoon, the celebrations continued as the wonderful Energize Choir joined us. Our residents enjoyed a joyful performance filled with uplifting songs, making the most of this beautiful sunny day. 🎶☀️

A perfect way to celebrate the season of growth, community, and happiness!

Happy International Dance Day! 💃🕺

Today we brought a little bit of the Wild West to life with a fun country & western theme 🤠 Our amazing staff dressed up in their finest country outfits, and our wonderful residents joined in too—cowboy hats and all!

This afternoon we hosted a fantastic hoedown filled with laughter, music, and plenty of dancing. From toe-tapping tunes to line dancing, we quite literally danced the night away! 🎶✨

Moments like these are what it’s all about—bringing joy, connection, and a whole lot of fun to everyone involved.

What a lovely weekend we’ve had here at Maplewood! ☀️

Tracy from our Lifestyles team hosted a wonderful old school “show and tell” session, sparking so many cherished memories and great conversations. It was truly special to see everyone reminiscing and sharing stories.

Then today, Pat and Brian enjoyed a peaceful morning at our local church, making the most of the calm and community spirit the weekend has brought.

Celebrating St George’s Day the only way we know how… PARTY!! 🇬🇧🎉

Rob T brought the tunes and we brought the vibes! 🔥🎶 This morning kicked off with decorating cupcakes in classic red and white icing ❤️🤍🧁, getting everything ready for this afternoon’s celebrations.

A huge shoutout to our amazing Lifestyles Team who transformed our whole home with beautiful English flags — it looked absolutely fantastic and really set the party mood! 🇬🇧✨
