Sometimes people worry that they need to have the “right words” or a clear understanding of their feelings before coming to therapy.
The truth is, you don’t.
Therapy is a space where uncertainty, confusion, and even doubt are welcome.
You can bring the things that feel messy or unfinished - the feelings you can’t name yet, the thoughts that don’t quite make sense, or even the worry that therapy might not work.
You can say “I don’t know.”
You can sit in silence.
You can question the process.
You can tell your therapist they’ve misunderstood you.
All of this is part of the work.
A good therapeutic relationship is strong enough to hold the uncertainty, the big emotions, and the moments where things feel difficult or unclear. In fact, those moments can often be where the most meaningful work happens.
You don’t have to arrive with everything figured out.
You just have to arrive.🌱
