Here is Achchi’s story:
I wonder if we could help to change a life in a different country?
This is just up the road from Phoebe in Sri Lanka who some of you may know from working in the cafe
Nobody should live like this.
Meet Achchi, the 'grandma cat' from Panadura.
She has nothing, survives by selling coconuts and newspapers, earning around 600 LKR a day (approximately £1.40 / ~$1.80 / €1.65).
She lives in a tiny roadside shop on a busy main street, she cares for 21 cats and one dog. Many of them were hit by vehicles, abandoned, or sick. She took them in when no one else would.
Despite the fact she earns next to nothing, she still feeds all the animals daily (probably before she even feeds herself)
She is severely malnourished.
She has health issues.
She has no bed.
No bathroom.
No kitchen.
And now, she is being asked to leave the only place she has.
What we want to do
We cannot walk away from this.
Our goal is simple but life-changing:
🏡 Provide a safe home
Rent a small house in a quiet area in Panadura where she and her animals can finally be safe.
Monthly rent: 30,000 LKR (~£70 / ~$90 / €80)
🍚 Provide food
Ensure she and the animals never go hungry again.
Monthly food costs: 30,000 LKR (~£70 / ~$90 / €80)
🐾 Provide medical care
Once she is safe, we will:
Spay/neuter all animals
Vaccinate against rabies
Provide full veterinary checks and treatment
This protects:
The animals
The local community
Future generations of street dogs and cats
With just £140/month (~$180 / €160)
we can completely change her life — and save 22 others.
Whether you donate once or become a monthly supporter, you are directly giving:
Safety
Food
