March 3rd is World Hearing Day (WHO) 👂🏼🦻🏼

A reason we try and suggest that customers do not put things inside their ears.

This customer phoned us for a same day appointment as an ear plug had snapped and got stuck into his ear canal causing the patient to currently lose his hearing and affect his day.

The issue with this type of ear bud was that it had a suction tip making it more intense when removing it from the ear canal.

Luckily, with perseverance we were able to remove this ear bud from the ear canal and check inside the ear to make sure no further damage had been done.

The customer instantly felt he had regained his hearing and was happy with the results from today’s same day home visit.

Word of advise. If it’s smaller than your elbow, don’t put it in your ear.

Important notice: Opening Hours during the Christmas period 🎄

Our Clinic at Wake House will be closed for the holidays from Friday 19th December 2025 and re-open on Monday 5th January 2026.

If you are in need of an Earwax Removal prior to the Christmas festivities, we strongly advise you to book in before our closing period, to avoid disappointment.

Home visits can still be booked throughout the closed period (excluding dates from 23rd December- 29th December )but need to be booked via telephone, calling us on 07739087903 to find out our availability.

What is one thing we see more often than not?

Lots of customers are told regularly that they have blocked ears of wax and to use olive oil with no specifics of what kind, even ones that some doctors prescribe have been known to do the opposite of softening or removing wax.
Naturally lots of people when told to use olive oil head straight to the isle of cooking oil but, often than not, using this type can actually dry the wax in the Ear Canal and instead of making it soft it becomes rock hard and difficult to remove.
We always recommend people use an olive oil such as Earol which you can get from most stores like boots or supermarkets and you can even purchase from us in Clinic. Earol is very effective at softening hard wax and makes the removal procedure more comfortable for the patient and more successful at removing the blockage.

*There is no official evidence of cooking oil worsening the wax even the NHS website recommends it but from what we see countless times in clinic of when people have used it, it is always the same outcome…hard wax!
