Hypnotherapy is the term used to describe the use of hypnosis as a treatment method for various conditions and issues. Hypnotherapy works by creating a state of relaxation where the conscious mind becomes less active allowing direct access to the subconscious mind in a therapeutic setting . When this occurs the subconscious mind becomes open and receptive to positive suggestion and reinforcement.

Positive suggestions are integrated much more effectively than is possible while the conscious mind is alert. It is through this process that subconscious belief systems, which govern our conscious decisions and behaviour, can be changed and negative beliefs, values, principles, and patterns can be altered. This process enables more positive connections to be created and reinforced, including establishing new ways of thinking and behaving and, subsequently, creating the basis of a much more positive, healthy and happy life.

Why is relaxation so important?

When we go into deep relaxation/trance, it mimics our REM sleep.

This is when our mind works to make sense of our worries and concerns - bring us perspective.

Physically, it initiates our parasympathetic nervous system which sends messages to our body to calm everything down - relax.

The adrenaline and cortisol stops being pumped around our bodies and is replaced by hormones such as dopamine and serotonin which help us feel like we can cope, we can manage, we will be ok.

The more you practice relaxation or meditation, the quicker you will respond.

Don’t dismiss the power of relaxation.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy combines positively focused talking therapy with guided relaxation.

We focus on the future not the past. This removes and focus on any previous negative experiences.

A 50-60 minute session split between talking therapy in the first half and concluded with relaxation.

You are provided with a relaxation track during you Initial Consultation so that by the time we are doing relaxation in your sessions, your brain is familiar with my voice.

Nobody understands my anxiety!

Which of these can you relate to?

👉 my heart is racing for absolutely no reason. I’m so stupid.

👉 What’s wrong with me?

Anxiety is a physiological response to what your brain has perceived as something dangerous.

It could be a negative thought or allowed bang.
But why does it KEEP happening?

Your primitive emotional brain encourages you to repeat patterns of behaviour if you appear to be surviving despite what you are experiencing.

It’s all about survival. You are here, therefore, whatever you’ve done done to get you here must be right.

BREATHE - take a few minutes for some “take 5” breathing practice calming your body.

EXERCISE- can you get out for a walk at a comfortable pace and enjoy the fresh air?

ALTERNATIVE THINKING - speak to yourself kindly in ways you know your best friends would for example.

RELAX - investigate some relaxations you like the sound of. There’s lots free on YouTube or I can provide you with one.
