Residents, family members and staff enjoyed celebrating Lunar New Year! πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³πŸ™Œ

In celebration of the Year of the Horse, we created red envelopes and shared oranges as a sign of good fortune.

We also watched the live celebrations on tv, and read our predictions for the new year.

Jackie and her life long friend Judy enjoyed making their envelope. Beryl, Brian and Cynthia enjoyed the group activity 🐎

We had an amazing visit from the crew at Christchurch Fire Station.

Unfortunately, it was raining so we were unable to take residents out to view the Fire Engine but, they brought some of the equipment indoors for us to look at, and even try on.

Kyle provided a speech on the equipment and fire safety. The whole crew then mingled with the residents, relatives and staff telling stories and enjoying tea and cake.

A huge thank you to the crew for a very enjoyable visit.

We had an amazing games morning in the main lounge. We used the electric table where residents were able to interact with Koi Carp in a pond, play fruit to splat another fruit, Mah Hong Hangman and matching pairs. We then played Beetle - rolling foam dice to get numbers for the beetle body parts, followed by balloon tennis - trying to keep the balloons off the floor all before lunch.

A fantastic morning of games - excellent fun.

We had a good move and groove session using pom poms for grip exercises and hand to eye coordination whilst listening to 1950's music. Due to the great atmosphere and the fun factor, it didn't seem like exercise 😍🎢

Barbara holding her favourite colour blue pom-pom doing grip exercises. Catrina well coordinated in her red. Estelle enjoying the music. Robin delighted it was Friday 😁

We celebrated Winnie the Pooh day by playing build a Winnie the Pooh. With four dice and Winnie the Pooh identical pictures cut up into sections, residents had to throw the dice for the right number to get sections to build their Winnie the Pooh picture.

Carole from Activities brought in her Winnie the Pooh collection of characters.

Beryl enjoyed throwing the dice - she was determined to get the right numbers to build her Winnie the Pooh picture. Brian happy completing his Winnie the Pooh picture.
