Back to school for these two beauties.
School is such an emotional roller coaster for them and me .
We havent missed the school runs , school anxiety, school expectations, daily masking or not !! School emails & calls , advocating and battling .
This hopefully is the year for boy3 his echp is done - the process has started & a referral for several things .
I'm hoping that this year will be more successful and smoother . But you don't get to predict that with Sen children . School comes with a hovering anxiety everyday you send them to school and everyday they refuse school and every time the school rings .
For boy4 he's had a year of 4 day weeks at school , we are still negotiating his new plan for year 1 until he has his operation . So until a plan is in place it will be a week by week decision on his energy levels and if his body can cope with extra day at school .
School means for me forever questioning if I'm doing the right by my children . Forever advocating for them and having their needs met .
So back to school for so many families is not the picture perfect ideal instagram shows .
None the less...
I am so grateful for the quieter house today though 6weeks basically 24/7 is soo hard .

What age were you when you fell pregnant with your first ?
I'll start - answer in the comments ...

I often get asked the question...
WHAT IS THE HARDEST STAGE OF PARENTING?

I think every mum would answer it differently and differently for each child .
I think we often hear negative narratives about certain ages 'think terrible twos'- at the same time as being told to enjoy it all and soak it in .
Each journey through motherhood is a medley of beautiful and hard, confusing or joyous, fragile and glorious moments - there isn't one stage that will be perfect harmonious. We have moments of them.
There is no right way to feel each stage of parenting.
No reason to compare our journey to how others feel or experience a stage .
We most definitely don't need to place negative blame on our children's age.
As I've said before it's all beautifully hard and knowing that several emotions can coexist is so enlightening.

My experience is all stages are hard but they all come with beautiful moments as a reward ;new milestones , new experiences , new knowledge - the current 'hard' changes to a new 'hard' and you're relieved the past has passed but stressed at the new struggles .
The discomfort of pregnancy to relief when baby is born , the messiness of postpartum blessed when milk is established & you no longer need pads , hormones fluctuating to returning periods , new born cluster feeding to 4 month regression, nappies to potty , the list goes on - it's all a journey and you MAMA and walking that path so powerfully coexisting all your experiences and emotions bridging all this stages of motherhood together. Keep going - look for the glimpses , pass through the moments .

There is no 'not allowed' 'allowed' in maternity care .
Did you know you can say no to anything and everything in your pregnancy and labour ?
When I tell people, I declined growth scans , declined being weighed in pregnancy , I didn't have any vaginal checks in labour , I've declined stitches 3 times the most common response is ' I didn't know I could say no' or words to that effect . I also hear so many birth stories littered with 'they didn't let me' ' the said I wasn't allowed' 'they allowed me too' . Everything is your choice and decision - even if the health care professionals don't make it seem like it . We seem to fall into this 'be a good girl' trap when in maternity care !
You don't need to give a reason either you can just say 'no thank you '
Or you can back it up with your knowledge if you wish . ❔Are you pregnant and want to know what you can decline and how ?
❔Did you decline anything in pregnancy/birth? Or wish you had ??
❔Any thing you didn't know you could decline?
Comment below it's really interesting to know others experiences.

In my birth preparation and empowerment sessions ( these can be group or 1:1) the first week you'll learn about informed consent and your rights , evidence and data -as I believe this is how you protect yourself , this is how you feel empowered to make choices and learn there is no health professional hierarchy like we are conditioned ( especially as women) to feel . We are at the centre of choices .

Bournemouth MAMA's to be - take some time out of your week to focus on you and your baby . Time to connect to your body & mind , pause in the busyness of life and rest your blossoming body . It's working so hard to grow your baby . Sessions include Gentle movement and grounding flowing into breathing techniques & meditation and mindfulness. All helpful for labour and afterwards too.
As well as meeting other expecting mums , share a drink in the cafe after to talk - I'm happy to talk all things pregnancy and birth and support you how you need .

Nesting !
Did you nest at the end of your pregnancy?
The urge to clean , tidy, declutter and even decorate . We all prepare for baby but this is the Urge to clean and sort generally in our third trimester.
It's a mammal instinct when labour is nearing . So many animals prep in the lead up and we are no different. How did nesting look for you ?
The night before my 5th labour just before midnight I had the urge to sweep my floors !
Our nest is our home . Where we feel safe. the environment we create around us is so important to our minset and labour .
That's why staying home aslong as possible is suggested when in labour & can make all the difference if you choose a hospital birth . And why some choose to homebirth.
Feeling calm and safe is so important in labour & can help labour be shorter and less need for pain relief. Tell me how you nested ? Or if you're pregnant if feel the urge to nest .....

If you swipe left I've added a personal story not strictly nesting but about how environment is key

Mama Moments .
Maybe you are wondering what these sessions are ?
Essentially it's a women's circle ⭕️ the coming together of mum's all on the beautifully hard journey of mother hood , supporting, listening with no judgement a safe space to talk , rest and show all our emotions.
Importantly this is a space created for mums to pause and place your physical and mental self first for one evening. Which we rarely do.

We start with a grounding breathwork , we may learn a new breathing technique all tools we can use in our busy mum life when it becomes overwhelming.
We then flow into movement to stretch away the stress and heaviness our body's carry physically and mentally.
Next up is a meditation relaxation - which all the mums find so beneficial just being able to pause your body and mind for 20-30 mins , I link in our feelings , emotions and narratives of meditation that will support mums .
We then go grab a drink and come back together at the table for talking , connection & focus on some mindfulness activities as well as creating your own affirmation pack .
If you're unsure if this is for you - I'd say come and try it once then decide, it's a gift to yourself. All the Mamas that have attended have said how beneficial it has been .
