We believe everyone living with dementia deserves an early and accurate dementia diagnosis.
But what does that mean, exactly?
An early and accurate diagnosis means that a person with dementia is diagnosed in the early stages of the condition, and given a diagnosis which accurately identifies what is causing their dementia symptoms.
Without a diagnosis, people living with dementia can’t access the support, treatments, benefits and protections they’re entitled to.
An early, accurate diagnosis also allows for certainty and understanding at a difficult time, as well as giving people time to adjust to life with the condition, and the opportunity to plan for the future.
Despite this, one in three people living with dementia in the UK don’t have a diagnosis.
We believe everyone affected by dementia deserves the best care and support available. That’s why we’re campaigning for early and accurate diagnosis for everyone affected by dementia.
