Charlotte Hughes Counselling I'm a fully qualified, BACP registered Integrative therapist working with individuals & couples in the Poole & Bournemouth area

We all struggle at times with the pressures of having a hectic life and family stresses. Sometimes we really want to tell our partners, our friends or our families how we are feeling but we worry that they might not understand. We worry about how they might react if we told them what we are really thinking or feeling. Instead we press our feelings down and say 'I'm fine' when we are asked how we a

re when often we don't feel fine on the inside. We just smile and try to get on with things as best we can. Everyone deserves the opportunity to be open about what is on their mind or how they are feeling inside. No one deserves to be living with stress, anxiety or depression that is stopping them from enjoying life and their relationships. I will provide you that chance to explore what is on your mind or going on in your life in a warm, accepting environment. You will be free to explore those thoughts and feelings without judgement and by doing so you may find your own strengths and resources to move forward to where you want to be. I will work to support you as we work through whatever it is that is troubling you and causing you pain or to be unhappy with how things are. As a nurse I have over 15 years experience in helping patients with physical illnesses. As a counsellor I have been able to build on that knowledge and experience to provide counselling to patients suffering a wide range of issues including chronic pain/fatigue, cancer and recovery from life changing illnesses. I also work with carers and partners, providing emotional and psychological help and support to enable them to cope with the stresses they endure in their role as carer. No matter your concerns, I can help you as you find your way to a better way of living, a happier way of being, within yourself and in your relationships. Give yourself that chance - you deserve it.

On Apr 23rd, the UK government will test emergency alerts, & your phone could make a loud sound, even on silent. If you’re a domestic violence survivor & have a hidden phone, it could reveal its location. Refuge have created a guide for turning alerts off. Share with friends and family.

The government is rolling out a new Emergency Alerts system and a test alert will be sent early this year. The alerts will be used to let you know about emer...

I love this depiction of what happens during therapy. People come to therapy because they feel overwhelmed with life and problems can feel like one big tangled mess. Trying to do it on your own can sometimes make the knots tighter and harder to unravel.

As a therapist part of my role is to help people detangle what is happening for them and help them find perspective on their experiences. Once the threads are clear, it is easier to find your way to living the life you want to be living. Providing a warm, supportive and non-judgemental environment to do this is key to helping you find your way.

If you are feeling overwhelmed or you are struggling with problems, do reach out. I can help.

As its mental health awareness week, there has been a lot of promotion and education around what you can do to promote your own mental well-being. If you are trying all the things you are being told to do but still feel like you are struggling, please know that you are not alone. There are organisations, charities and counsellors like me who want to help you. If you take that first step to reach out, you will find people wanting to listen and to help. It's okay not to be okay.
