International Men’s Day

Today at Southbourne Beach Care Home we had a fantastic day celebrating in style. The day is used to highlight positive male role models and raise awareness of men’s wellbeing.

We also organised a special Gentlemen’s Lunch followed by themed Quiz this afternoon, where we welcome our local Rotary Club members.

We were treated to some pub snacks with a variety of crisps and beer while taking part very competitive Pub Quiz, even some of our ladies go involved … and why not?

We also discussed male role models in our lives and the important role of fathers, grandfathers, husbands, sons, teachers and other inspirational men.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Your Majesty King Charles III! 🎂
Although His Majesty couldn’t join us in person, we celebrated his special day in style on November 14th!
Residents, staff, and friends enjoyed a right royal knees-up, complete with beautiful portraits of the King, reminiscing about his Coronation, and sharing stories from his remarkable life.
The highlight of the day? A stunning live performance by the talented Rebecca Osborne, making it a truly memorable occasion for all. 👑✨

What a crowd we had yesterday for the very talented Clare Manners Saxophonist. Clare comes to play for our residents many times throughout the year and always has a great response for the beautiful music she plays for us.

In the lead-up to Remembrance Day, our talented residents and staff at the created a stunning display of handmade poppies – knitted and paper-crafted with love.
On Sunday and Today at 11am, residents, staff, and families gathered to honour the sacrifices made by our veterans where we all paused for a moving 2-minute silence to remember the fallen.
Immediately after, we were treated to a beautiful piano performance by Mark Busell, whose traditional and patriotic songs set a reflective and uplifting tone for the day.
We were also honoured to welcome Hattie, who gave an inspiring talk about the Heroes of WWI and WWII, sparking thoughtful conversations and deep appreciation.
To complete this special day, Sodapops – vintage harmony trio will be joining us this evening for a lively performance filled with classic wartime tunes and singalong favourites, bringing joy and unity to our home.

🌺 RBL Poppy Collection – Community Spirit in Action 🌺
We were honoured to take part in the RBL Poppy Collection, a wonderful community event organised by the Boscombe and Southbourne Rotary
We had a fantastic time supporting this meaningful cause. One of our residents, who has proudly supported the charity for many years, especially enjoyed reconnecting with the local community.
Thank you to everyone who made this event so special – it was heartwarming to see such kindness and unity in action. 💙

Residents at Southbourne Beach Care Home - Avery Collection had a lovely visit from the RNLI Lifeguards to give an informative talk on what they do and how they save lives. With living so close to the sea it is important to be safe in the water. Although our residents are not planning on swimming in the sea very soon they truly enjoyed the talk and will be able to pass in information to their families. Residents even got to test out some of the equipment the lifeguards use.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November!
This afternoon residents got creative in our art room and created their own version of fireworks with oil pastels. We will display them pride of place for everyone to enjoy 👩‍🎨

Today at Southbourne Beach Care Home - Avery Collection we had a fun Halloween, each department carved their own pumpkin and residents voted for the winner 🎃
Well done to our Beachside community who won this year 🥇
Residents also attended a spooky exercise class with Dan and we had fruit punch and cake... lots of cake.

We had a fabulous time welcoming our newest residents to Southbourne Beach Care Home! 🏡✨
With tasty treats, a bit of bubbly, and a live singing performance, the room was soon filled with music, laughter, and even a bit of dancing! 💃🕺
It was a joyful afternoon celebrating new beginnings and making memories together. 💛

Today we got into the spooky spirit with a Halloween-themed word search activity 🕸️✨
Residents had a spellbinding time solving puzzles, sharing laughs, and gearing up for Friday’s pumpkin carving and Halloween party.
We’re brewing up more fun and can’t wait to celebrate together! 👻🧡

🎀 WE DID IT! 🎀
On Friday 24th October, Southbourne Beach Care Home turned pink for a fabulous Wear It Pink fashion show in support of Breast Cancer Now 💖
Team members, residents, relatives, and friends strutted their stuff on the catwalk in some truly wonderful outfits — the buzz in the home was absolutely amazing! 🌟
Thanks to everyone’s generosity, our charity raffle raised almost £400 to help fund life-changing breast cancer research. 💐
A huge thank you to all who took part, supported, and cheered us on — your kindness and spirit made this event unforgettable! 💕
