This month we chose to explore the vibrant culture of Jamaica, so we held a themed afternoon to celebrate at Southbourne Beach Care Home.
We enjoyed the vibrant music while sampling jerk chicken and rice accompanied by rum-based cocktails.
Fun afternoon had by all. Next stop – Brazil 😊

Beach Hut day three. Shell searching, paddling and sand writing..... what a lovely day we had , she sun came out for us and we sat an looked the beautiful views of The Purbecks and Isle of Wight with a cuppa.

Beach Hut Day two, slightly cooler so coats were needed but we had a lovely morning sharing it with Tops Day Nurseries: Pokesdown, the children loved digging holes and finding shells for our residents to take back with them.

Her at Southbourne Beach Care Home - Avery Collection we have been lucky enough to hire a beach hut for the week for our residents and families to enjoy, this is day one, although the sun was not out its was still very warm for our residents to enjoy, warm enough even for a paddle in the sea.

The Wizard of Oz movie was released on the 18th of August 1939. We reminisced about the iconic characters such as Dorothy and her little dog Toto, Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion.
We also learned some fun facts and trivia about the story and movie and took part in interactive games.
Team members and volunteers dressed up in themed costumes and we all gathered to sample homemade sweet treats prepared by the talented chefs. Fun day had by all 🤩🥳🦁🐕🌈

This weekend our lovely Margaret celebrated her special 100th birthday, she celebrated with her family and her friends here at Southbourne Beach Care Home - Avery Collection Happy birthday Margaret 🎂

Thank you so much to Boscombe and Southbourne Rotary for inviting us to The Christchurch river Pageant yesterday, we had a wonderful day watching all the boats go past and the fabulous dragon show. We had a lovely lunch at Tuckton Tea Gardens, everyone made us feel very welcome 🙏🏻 🚤 ☀️
We will defiantly be back next year.

Yesterday we welcomed Ana from Power House Therapy for a taster of her strength and movement class, using weighted balls and exercise bands. Residents really enjoyed themselves, including little Bea the dog

This morning we had the very talented Lisa Locarno - Vintage & Jazz Singer come and perform for us. Residents and staff sang and danced along to songs from the 40's 50's and 60's
