I’ve seen many people come to therapy hoping for quick breakthroughs, a flood of advice, or constant emotional release.
But therapy isn’t always dramatic. It’s deliberate, relational, and deeply human.
The real work often looks like:
– Slowly building trust and safety
– Getting (gently!) called out in ways that lead to growth
– Feeling stuck, quiet, or confused and showing up anyway
– Saying the most important thing in the last 5 minutes
– Noticing patterns that have always been there
– Laughing, crying, or sitting in silence and all being valid
Therapy isn’t magic.
It’s meaningful.
It’s messy.
And it works: one step at a time.
If you're in therapy, or thinking about starting, you're doing something brave. Healing doesn't always look like progress, but it is progress. 💙
