Supporting Our Patients to Go Digital with the NHS App
A few weeks ago, we held a patient session here at Westbourne Medical Centre to help our patients get familiar with the NHS App, showing how to use it, highlighting its benefits, and supporting everyone to get the most out of its features.
During the session, patients learned how to:
💊 Order repeat prescriptions
📄 View their medical records securely
🔔 Access a range of NHS services online
It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and leaving the session feeling more confident using the NHS App. Thank you to our patients for taking part.
We’d love to hear from you!
Would you find a session like this useful? Our next NHS App session will be held on Thursday, 5th December. We are here to help there is no time pressure to learn things quickly but we do need them to be booked in so we can ensure that we have the time for each individual.
If you’d like to take part, please contact us by phone on 01202 752550 to express your interest. Please ensure you have the NHS App downloaded and set up before attending the session.

Over the four Saturdays of our Flu and COVID clinics in October, our team vaccinated 3,198 patients!
If you weren’t able to make it to our weekend clinics, you can still book your flu or COVID jab by calling on 01202 752550.
See eligibility criteria here: https://westbournemedical.com/news/covid-and-flu-vaccines/

We also want to highlight the work of our clinicians Abbie and Janet, who spent much of October visiting housebound patients and care homes. During these visits, they provided flu and COVID vaccinations to patients who might otherwise struggle to access the surgery. They administered 96 flu vaccinations and 92 COVID vaccinations to housebound patients, and 327 flu vaccinations and 312 COVID vaccinations to care home residents.

📸You might have met clinicians Abbie and Janet before.

Carers Rights Day 20th November

A carer can be someone of any age, who may be in paid work or not and who supports a friend or family member due to their illness, disability, frailty, mental health or substance misuse.
Carers Rights Day brings people and organisations together across the UK to make sure carers know about the help and support available.

This year’s theme is Know your rights, use your rights. The campaign shines a light on key rights, including:
🔹Unpaid carer’s leave
🔹Flexible working
🔹Asking your GP to identify you as a carer
🔹Protection from discrimination
🔹Free flu jabs
🔹Requesting a carer’s assessment
🔹Being involved in hospital discharge planning

To understand your rights as a Carer, please visit: https://ourdorset.org.uk/carers/carers-rights-day/

Help spread the word – share this post with others who might find it helpful.
