🍅During late pregnancy, I prepped & froze meal portions to defrost, heat & eat during those early weeks with my newborn

🥦It meant nutrient-packed food was on hand with very little effort, freeing up time when my baby was here

🍲A local photographer has recently written a blog about this including some recipe suggestions to get you started

🍝Which meals will you be preparing ready to enjoy after your baby is born?

Preparing extra portions of food during your pregnancy will help you so much for when your baby has arrived.

It's been a long time coming but yesterday, I visited the brand new BEACH building at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
I was particularly keen to see The Haven birth centre & love that they have kept the name of the low-risk birth centre that was at Poole (also where I laboured almost 18 years ago).

I am really impressed to learn that:
🤰 Partners are able to stay overnight - great for family bonding time & to be able to support mum & baby 💕
🤱The birth pools are really big (room for partners to get in if you want them to & room to spread out & float) ✨
🤰 The rooms are soundproof, so you can focus on your experience without hearing how anyone else's might be feeling about theirs 💕
🤱 Staffing is at full capacity ✨
🤰It didn't smell clinical & hospital-like 💜

Sad to see St Mary's Rd maternity unit in Poole go but this new centre at RBH really does look superb.

Very excited knowing that I'm currently teaching Hypnobirthing to expectant parents who plan to bring their babies into the world here. 🤰🤱✨💕

I'm including an NHS link of the centre which includes a show around video-tour of the unit.

However, if you are considering giving birth to your baby here, I'd encourage you to have a look at the rooms in-person too. It's always beneficial to visualise your birth & where you plan for it to happen (how it looks, sounds, smells, feels) is a big part of that visualisation. ✨

I'm thrilled to have exhibited at another of Samantha Prewett Photography - Newborn & Family Photographer in Poole's amazing baby events at The Dolphin Centre at the end of April! Love the networking & chatting to all the lovely expectant parents about how to prepare to have a calm, empowered & enjoyable (yes, really!) birth experience. 🤰🤱

I refuse to believe that almost three quarters of women bringing their first babies into the world in County Sligo in February 2025 were unable to birth vaginally.

Most of these would have been unneCaesareans.

Women are losing trust in their own birthing ability & their own bodies.

Never before has good, empowering antenatal preparation been needed as much as right now.
