🌸 A Wonderful & Busy February at Abbeyfield Wessex! 🌸

February was a fantastic month across all Abbeyfield Wessex houses, filled with activity, laughter, and community spirit.

Our residents kept active with enjoyable seated exercise classes, gathered together for cosy coffee mornings by the fire, and shared special moments celebrating Valentine’s Day with friends and neighbours. We also welcomed the Chinese New Year, where residents had great fun learning how to use chopsticks and exploring new traditions together.

Creativity was in full swing with a variety of arts and crafts sessions, bringing colour and inspiration into our homes. Most importantly, throughout every activity, residents enjoyed the warm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere that makes Abbeyfield Wessex such a special place to live.

Thank you to everyone who helps make our houses vibrant communities every single day — we look forward to another wonderful month ahead! 💜

The sunshine is finally making an appearance, the days are getting longer, and there’s a fresh feeling of spring in the air! 🌷🌿

At Abbeyfield Wessex, we love this time of year — a season of new beginnings, brighter mornings, and enjoying time outdoors with friends and neighbours. Whether it’s a gentle walk in the sunshine, a cup of tea in the garden, or simply opening the windows to let the fresh air in, spring brings so many little moments to enjoy.

We had some very special visitors at Abbeyfield Wessex – The Laurels this week! 🎉

The children from our local nursery popped in to help us celebrate resident Harry’s birthday. They brought along their fantastic handmade cards, which Harry absolutely loved – such thoughtful and creative designs! 💛

Everyone enjoyed a slice of homemade Black Forest gateaux (Harry’s favourite!) and it was wonderful to see the smiles and laughter shared across the generations.

Thank you to the nursery children and staff for making Harry’s birthday so memorable! 🎂🎈

We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and well-organised Cook to join our friendly team at Abbeyfield House.

You will be responsible for preparing high-quality, nutritious meals, catering for dietary requirements, and helping ensure the smooth running of the house in the absence of house staff.

Key Responsibilities:
🥗 Prepare and cook varied, home-cooked meals using fresh ingredients
⚠️ Follow allergen legislation and food hygiene standards
🧼 Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment
📋 Complete kitchen records (temperatures, risk assessments, etc.)
💛 Support residents’ welfare in the absence of house staff

👉 Zero-hours Cook – flexible work, no guaranteed hours, and no obligation to accept shifts, £14.49 per hour

🏴 🔥Burns Night Celebrations at Abbeyfield Wessex Society 🔥 🏴
What a fantastic evening marking Burns Night with residents and friends! The table was filled with Scottish favourites — homemade morning rolls, hearty haggis, neeps and tatties, all topped with a delicious Drambuie whisky sauce.
We rounded things off with a traditional cranachan pudding and raised a glass (or two!) of whisky to celebrate in true Scottish style 🥃
Great food, great company, and a lovely way to celebrate together. Slàinte!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
