Opens the hips, stretches the inner groins, thighs and knees for starters. Improves blood circulation to the pelvic region, takes the load off weary feet and handy to do some jobs too!!!

Just look 👀 not a chair in sight.

As we turn into Spring, I’m delighted to share my new Iyengar Yoga class starting on a Thursday evening from 5th March:

Afternoon all

So, in classes this week, we’ve considered a ‘twin set’, where we bring the mind-set and body-set together. Mindset is often referred to and as something separate, however we know when the two are in sync what an integrated feeling this brings, externally and internally 🙏🏻

As we head into the weekend and turn towards Spring 🌸🍃, I wanted to share a few updates;

🌸 **NEW** evening class starts Thursday 5 March, 7.30-8.45pm at The Stourvale Centre, Southbourne

🌸 **NEW** Half-day retreat added, Saturday 27 June, 1.30-4.30pm at The New Forest Retreat Centre

And a few places are available on my Wednesday morning class, 9.15-10.45am, this next course starts 25 Feb.

Over the years, exercise has helped the 66-year-old maintain her health and wellbeing. 'I do yoga three times a week,' she told Good Housekeeping. 'I have to do something I enjoy, otherwise I wouldn’t do it. The older I get, the more I realise I have got to do lots of stretching. In particular, Nigella favours 'a rather slow form of yoga called Iyengar' that highlights precision and correct positioning when performing postures, often using props like blocks and belts as support. For her, fitness is as much about overall wellbeing as it is about physical results.

A beautiful yet powerful pioneer for women’s yoga 🧘🏼

Remembering Geetaji
Today marks the seventh Punyatithi (death anniversary) of Dr Geeta S. Iyengar, lovingly known as Geetaji.
7 December 1944 – 16 December 2018

A pioneering teacher and a powerful force for women in yoga, Geetaji’s clarity, discipline, and compassion touched the lives of millions of students worldwide.

In December 2018 She taught a 10-day Centenary programme for Guruji’s 100th birth anniversary, saying:
“Don’t worry, I will be with you for the centenary, then my work will be done.”
She passed away just two days later, on 16 December 2018.

“I am not in my father’s shadow, but in his light.”

If Guruji is the father of Iyengar Yoga, Geetaji is its mother, shaping the method with her fierce intelligence, precision, and care, especially for women’s practice and therapeutic work.

Today, we honour her legacy, her teachings, and her enduring presence in our practice.

We started with a 💦 wet, windy morning, added a good dose of Iyengar Yoga and finished with a soothing relaxation 🙏🏻

It’s designed for when you have a cold or flu and is taken from BKS Iyengar’s, The Path to Holistic Health book.

It includes supported postures to calm the nervous system. The head is positioned below the chest to remove pressure on the sinuses and improve respiration. Enjoy!
