The Incredible Story of Aloka — The Peace Dog 🐾☸️

A group of Buddhist monks are currently undertaking a powerful "Walk for Peace" across the United States a barefoot pilgrimage of nearly 2,300 miles, from Texas to Washington, D.C., meant to spread compassion, mindfulness, and non-violence in a divided world.

🐾 Aloka’s story matters.

FROM THE STREETS TO THE PATH OF PEACE:

Aloka wasn’t born in comfort. He was once a stray, wandering the streets of India, surviving day by day. And then… he found the Venerable Monks.

No one trained him.
No one commanded him.
He simply joined.
And he never left.

For over 100 days, this little stray walked alongside them, every step of the way just like the Walk for Peace happening today. No complaints. No hesitation. Just loyalty, courage, and a spirit that refused to be broken.

No shelter promised.
No food guaranteed.
No destination explained.
Yet Aloka stayed.

A HEART WITHOUT BORDERS

They don’t know his birthday nor where he came from. But they said they do know this: anyone who meets Aloka feels his peace, his loyalty, and his unwavering heart.

This isn’t just a dog. This is a reminder that love, loyalty, and courage can come from the most unexpected places.

☸️ In Buddhism, Aloka means “light.”
Not the light that blinds,
but the light that gently reveals the way forward.

Today, that light walks on four legs.

Today's Walk for Peace echoes that same spirit. While the monks walk to remind humanity of kindness and inner stillness, Aloka's story has become a symbol of something just as powerful unshakable loyalty. A creature with every reason to give up, choosing instead to keep going.

🚶‍♂️ The monks are walking — not traveling — walking.

Over 2,300 miles.
Across towns, highways, heat, cold, comfort, and discomfort.

Not for fame.
Not for followers.
Not to convert anyone.

They are walking for peace —
to remind a restless world that peace cannot be shouted into existence.
It must be embodied.

Each step is a prayer.
Each mile is a meditation.
Each blister is a reminder that peace requires effort, patience, and humility.

🐕 And Aloka walks every mile with them.

No complaints.
No resistance.
No fear of the unknown road ahead.

He doesn’t ask:

How long is left?

What’s the destination?

Is this worth it?

He stays present — step by step —
the very definition of mindfulness.

🌍 This is why people stop, stare, and feel something they can’t explain.

Because while humans argue about peace…
this dog lives it.

While humans divide the world into “us” and “them”…
Aloka recognizes no enemy.

While humans chase purpose…
he has already found it —
to walk gently, faithfully, and fully in the present moment.

🧘‍♂️ The deeper teaching hidden in this journey:

Peace is not a destination — it is a way of moving.

Spirituality is not found in words — it is found in footsteps.

Enlightenment is not about becoming extraordinary —
it is about becoming simple, aware, and kind.

🐾 When a former stray dog can walk 2,300 miles without hatred,
without greed,
without fear…

Perhaps the real question is not “Can the world change?”
but “Can we learn to walk like this?”

Slow.
Gentle.
Awake.

☮️ Sometimes the purest teacher doesn’t speak,
doesn’t preach,
and doesn’t even know he is teaching.

He just walks.

And in doing so…
he lights the path for everyone watching.

Walk softly. Live simply. Be peace.

New Year message from Khenpo Lekshey

Dear Brothers and Sisters of this planet. The year 2026 is on our doorstep. May we greet the new year with happiness and prosperity. May 2026 bring us abundant happiness, good health, success, prosperity and harmony. There is no doubt that everyone wishes for all these things but without wisdom we create their opposites. Shantideva said “Although we desire happiness we destroy it as if we’re our enemy, out of ignorance.” I wish for us to be more wise than before and bring harmony back home.
All living beings in this huge world wish for happiness and harmony, so this is the priority. May we all be able to work together with love and compassion, rather than hatred and the self cherishing mind. May we all gain the wisdom to see hatred and self cherishing are the ones that cover our wisdom and therefore cause the suffering.

Happy New Year to all.

NAMO BUDDHAYA

24/12/2025

Long ago, on a quiet winter night, as the world prepared to celebrate Christmas, Jesus Christ walked beneath a sky full of stars. Not far away, under a silent Bodhi tree, Gautama Buddha sat in deep meditation.

Their paths crossed at a humble roadside fire.

Jesus spoke first, gently warming his hands.
“People suffer because they forget how to love.”

Buddha smiled softly.
“And they suffer because they cling to what was never meant to last.”

They sat together in silence for a while, listening to the crackle of the fire and the distant cries of a restless world.

Jesus said,
“I teach them to forgive, even when it hurts. Love, even when it costs.”

Buddha replied,
“I teach them to let go, even when the mind resists. To see clearly, even when truth is uncomfortable.”

Jesus looked at the flames and said,
“When love leads the way, fear disappears.”

Buddha nodded.
“When awareness leads the way, suffering dissolves.”

As dawn approached, they stood to leave. Before parting, Jesus turned and said,
“May they learn that peace begins in the heart.”

Buddha added,
“And may they learn that freedom begins in understanding.”

That Christmas morning, nothing outward had changed. The world was still noisy. People were still hurting.
But something unseen had shifted.

Because the message was the same:

✨ Be kind.
✨ Be conscious.
✨ Forgive deeply.
✨ Let go gently.
✨ Love without conditions.

🎄 Christmas Moral:
You don’t need to follow a religion to live its highest truth.
When love meets awareness, humanity heals.

Merry Christmas. May your heart be light, your mind be peaceful, and your actions be kind. ❤️🙏

Who is Chenrezig?
The Bodhisattva of Infinite Compassion

Chenrezig is one of the most beloved figures in Tibetan Buddhism. He represents the pure, boundless compassion that lies at the heart of all Buddhist practice. His very name means “The One Who Looks With Unwavering Eye” upon all beings who suffer.

Across Asia, Chenrezig appears in many forms and names. In Sanskrit he is Avalokiteshvara. In China he is known as Guan Yin, the gentle, merciful mother figure. Each tradition reflects the same essence: unconditional compassion for every living being.

One of the most extraordinary aspects of Chenrezig is that his compassion is believed to incarnate repeatedly in our world. Tibetan Buddhists recognise His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as the current human embodiment of Chenrezig. Through his teachings, peace work, and kindness, he continues to express this timeless compassionate presence.

Chenrezig reminds us that compassion is not weakness. It is power. It is courage. It is the willingness to keep our hearts open, even when the world feels heavy.

May this image inspire softness, strength, and the wish that all beings be free from suffering.

Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.

A gentle reminder from the Buddha that true calm doesn’t come from perfect circumstances, other people, or the world around us. It begins in our own heart.

When we turn inward, even for a moment, we rediscover a space that is steady, spacious, and free. From that inner peace, our outer world naturally softens.

May today be a day of returning to yourself. 🌿✨

True peace isn't about changing your surroundings. It is about changing your mind.

Why Buddhism is Different from Other Religions 🌿

Buddhism is not just a religion — it’s a way of living, a practice of awareness, and a path to inner freedom. Unlike many traditions that focus on worship or divine authority, Buddhism turns our attention inward: to the mind, to compassion, to wisdom. Here are 10 key points that make Buddhism different:

1️⃣ No Creator God – Buddhism doesn’t revolve around worshipping a supreme being; it focuses on self-awareness and responsibility for one’s own actions.
2️⃣ A Path, Not Blind Faith – The Buddha asked people not to believe him blindly but to test his teachings through their own experience.
3️⃣ Focus on Inner Transformation – Instead of external rituals alone, Buddhism emphasizes meditation, mindfulness, and self-discipline.
4️⃣ Impermanence (Anicca) – It teaches that everything changes. Understanding impermanence frees us from clinging and suffering.
5️⃣ Self-Reliance – Liberation doesn’t come from someone else’s grace but from your own effort and practice.
6️⃣ Compassion for All Beings – Every living being, human or animal, is worthy of kindness and respect.
7️⃣ No Fixed Dogma – Buddhism evolves with time and culture while keeping its core teachings intact.
8️⃣ Karma & Responsibility – Your choices shape your future. You are accountable for your actions.
9️⃣ Practical Wisdom – Teachings like mindfulness, meditation, and detachment are tools for daily life, not just theory.
🔟 Freedom from Ego – The path aims to dissolve the illusion of ego, leading to peace and harmony.

🌸 How Buddhism Makes Life Easier and Better 🌸

It reduces suffering by teaching us to let go of what we cannot control.

It gives clarity through mindfulness — living in the present instead of being trapped by past regrets or future fears.

It nurtures peace of mind by encouraging compassion, forgiveness, and kindness.

It makes us emotionally stronger by teaching impermanence: no pain lasts forever.

It simplifies life by shifting focus from material possessions to inner contentment.

✨ Buddhism doesn’t demand that you escape the world. It teaches you to live fully in the world — but with awareness, balance, and peace.

💭 In the end, Buddhism is less about believing and more about experiencing — about transforming your mind and heart so you can live with less suffering and more joy.
