I caught this beautiful ray of sunshine escaping from the clouds last night on my drive home from working a festival in the south. Taken from a moving car, it doesnt do it justice, but the sky was breathtaking as i neared Wales. It was like a welcome home 🩷
Lovely timing too with the beginning of harvest season - the first harvest Sabbat or festival being today, popularly known at Lammas (Anglo Saxon). In Wales this festival is called Gŵyl Awst, meaning August Festival. Amongst many aspects in various Celtic cultures, it can be associated with the sun and its power to ripen the crops for an abundant harvest.
For me, this also points to how our personal connection with the light - physically or spiritually, has nurtured and "grown" us too. It's lovely to contemplate our connection & growth during pivotal times.
During the harvest season we see the seeds / goals that we have planted at Winter Solstice and the beginning of the spring Sabbats, come to fruition. Gŵyl Awst is a time of abundance, acknowledgement and gratitude, for the crops & sustenance from Mother Earth & Her elements , along with everything we have nurtured and achieved in ourselves and our lives.
I love lighting a candle at this time in honour of the sun & the light and spending time in acknowledgement & gratitude. Writing notes in a journal on your annual journey is also really rewarding.
Gŵyl Awst blessings to you all, may the harvest, light & growth so far in your lives be plenty. Last and definitely not least, may the situations across the world that need more light to grow & resolve, recieve it now 🩷
