Given that a single sleepless night can make you irritable and moody the following day, it’s not surprising that chronic sleep deprivation may lead to long-term mood disorders like depression and anxiety.

When people with anxiety or depression were surveyed to calculate their sleeping habits, it turned out that most of them slept for less than six hours a night.

How do we stay positive when we are overwhelmed with grief and find that spark of hope we sometimes need to get us through the day?

Start a gratitude journal or jar. Each day, for a year, write down one thing you’re grateful for. It could be the money for a takeaway, it could simply be the hug from your little one.

Look for the positive and you’ll find it.

John and Joy, have established a successful private practice with 11 years of experience. Between us we provide counselling, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, relationship coaching and counselling for individuals and couples. Joy’s specialties are connected to working with all areas of stress and anxiety related issues and concerns, all forms of abuse and relationship coaching and counselling for individuals and couples John’s specialties are bereavement and palliative care, having been a Forest Home voluntary support worker for cancer attached to Poole Hospital for over 8 years.
