Encore Care Homes

Encore Care Homes We take care of residents in our four care homes in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Fareham

Together, Making Moments Matter

The most important part of an Encore care home is its residents. Our purpose at Encore is to enrich the lives of residents by offering a place of safety, care and companionship. No two people are the same and our distinctive and responsive individual care plans reflect the outstanding personalised care that Encore gives its residents. Encore provides exceptional ex

pert care across all of our homes – in all five types of senior care needs; dementia, nursing, residential, respite and palliative care. Only the kindest and most committed individuals who are passionate about making residents smile each and every day work for Encore. We continually train and develop our staff so that they can provide the very highest standard of care to residents. We also want our teams to develop their skill set and progress in their role. We believe that if our teams are happy, this will filter throughout the entire home, and in turn, the residents will be happy.

It was so wonderful to see Florence at our Christchurch home, Fairmile Grange Care Home , surrounded by her family and friends as she celebrated her 100th birthday. Her daughters organised an Afternoon Tea, which was prepared by the home's chef Dave, who also made her a beautiful cake. 🎂

No 100th birthday celebration is complete without a special birthday card from King Charles, which Florence was delighted with.

The team and her family all sang Happy Birthday to Florence and she was presented with a keepsake from Fairmile Grange entitled "On the Day You Were Born" 🎵

Happy Birthday Florence! 💖

For anyone who missed it, Hamble Heights Care Home was featured on ITV News Meridian last night in a feature about the effects of the heat on the elderly.

They interviewed a member of our care team, Emily, to find out about the different hydration techniques and what we do to keep our residents as cool as possible in the unseasonably hot weather. The crew also interviewd three of our lovely residents; Sophie, Priscilla and Jeffrey. Take a look on the ITV Hub - the footage is available until 6 pm tonight!

Thank you to ITV News Meridian who visited Hamble Heights Care Home in Fareham today to film a piece about the effects of heat on the elderly and the techniques and strategies we use to help keep our residents cool in the hot weather.

They spoke with Emily, our deputy manager, as well as our residents Sophie, Priscilla and Jeffrey. It was great timing as we also arranged for a dedicated ice cream van to visit and serve ice creams to our residents to help them stay hydrated, on what was said to be the hottest day of the year!

You can catch the feature on the 6 o'clock news or on ITV Hub.

A member of the wellbeing team from Hamble Heights Care Home in Park Gate, Fareham went to Stubbington Donkey Fair to sell some of the fantastic crafts that our residents and the team have made for the Gift Shop.

It was a brilliant day, and a chance to showcase to the local community some of the wonderful wellbeing activities that our residents take part in - creating beautiful handmade items.

The stall made a whopping £149.50 from the homemade gifts! All the proceeds will go straight back into the Residents' Fund, which helps pay for additional special treats for residents and trips out, such as lunch at the local pub.

Hamble Heights Care Home, our care home in Fareham, Southampton, has received its first letter from their new pen pals, Willow Pond in Statesboro Georgia, in the USA.

Our residents loved reading the news from them - some even felt quite emotional. They really enjoyed feeling connected with other residents across the pond, and learning about their way of life. It was fascinating to gain new insights into the climate and culture of our American 'cousins'.

Our residents have already written another letter in response and wait with anticipation to hear from them again...

We are delighted to announce that following the recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, Great Oaks has been rated GOOD – both overall, and for each of the five areas (safe, effective, responsive, caring and well-led).

This is a fantastic achievement and is richly deserved following all the hard work and dedication of the team to ensure we are providing a caring, safe, and comfortable home for residents.

It was especially heartening that the inspectors were told by residents, relatives, and staff that Great Oaks was a safe place to be. They observed residents and staff interacting together and reported that there was, “a fun, vibrant atmosphere in the home.”

The inspectors recognised the dedication and care of our staff. They noted in the report that staff said they are trained well and have a common goal, quoting one member of staff as saying, “The overall team has high expectations for the residents, and we all aim for them to be safe and happy." Another poignant comment made by the loved one of a resident was, "It's peace of mind when we can't be here."

The adorable Oliver from The Orchard Nursery gave Michael, one of our residents at Great Oaks Care Home Bournemouth, a homemade card with a picture, which absolutely made his whole week!

Michael is never happier than when he is causing lovable mischief by playing games with the children when they visit. The wonderful hugs and joy these children bring to our residents are amazing, and we are very proud and lucky to have them visit our home in Bournemouth so regularly. Our residents at Fairmile Grange in Christchurch have enjoyed baking sessions with Andrea and Sian over the past few months.👨‍🍳

This month saw them making Butterfly Cakes. Each resident had a recipe to follow and it was lovely to hear them talking about cooking and baking for family and friends. Val and Anne agreed that they both missed baking but not the washing up! 😁

It has to be said though that everyone was in agreement that the best part is the tasting at the end. 🥞🍵

The national issue of recruiting in care is one of the industry’s greatest challenges. The Northern Council for Further Education (NCFE) reported that the turnover rate within social care is 31%, compared to the UK average across all employment sectors of 15%.

In July, we launched Encore Care Academy, with the ambition to transform care training and development. It was borne from the core principle that we want to provide everyone with the opportunity and facilities to improve their skills, careers, earning capability, and self-worth. The Care Academy presents a distinct career pathway that defines a job in care as a real and profitable career choice within a role that makes a tangible and meaningful difference. Our structured learning paths allow individuals to develop their skill sets and gain additional qualifications.Encore Care Academy provides a full induction to equip team members with critical skills development through a blended learning environment, including face-to-face training sessions, workshops, e-learning and supported on-the-job mentoring. Our innovative learning and development training programme currently has 36 staff members enrolled in apprenticeships.
