🚶‍♀️♿ Shopmobility Awareness Week | 1st – 5th June ♿🚶‍♂️

We’re proud to celebrate Shopmobility Awareness Week at Castlepoint Shopmobility and shine a light on the valuable service we provide to our community every day.

Shopmobility is not just for shopping trips — we’re here to help anyone who needs a little extra support with mobility. Whether it’s for a visit to the shops, attending appointments, enjoying a day out, or longer-term equipment hire, we provide access to mobility scooters, wheelchairs, and other equipment to help people stay independent and active.

Our service supports people with temporary or long-term mobility difficulties, helping them maintain confidence, freedom, and connection within the community.

If you or someone you know could benefit from our services, we’d love to hear from you. Pop in and speak to our friendly team to find out more about short and long-term hire options. We are based at Castlepoint Shopping Park in the underground car park underneath Sainsbury.

WE DID IT! 🥾⛰️

We’re so proud to share that we successfully conquered the 8 peaks around Keswick to help raise awareness and vital funds for new accessible vans. Thanks to the amazing generosity and support from everyone involved, we raised a fantastic £6,275! 🎉

This total includes all donations and fundraising contributions received along the way, and we honestly can’t thank everyone enough for their kindness, encouragement, and support.

Leading up to the hike, I had been really unwell, which made the challenge even tougher than I could have imagined. There were moments during the climb when I genuinely felt like giving up. But in those difficult moments, I thought about the struggles many people face every day trying to access reliable and accessible transport, and that gave me the determination to keep putting one foot in front of the other. I also could not have done it without my dear friend by my side, who encouraged me and helped push me through the hardest parts of the journey I’ll always be grateful for that support and this made me realize that it's this kind of support Community Transport provides to so many people.

It helps local residents stay connected, attend appointments, go shopping, meet friends, and remain independent, especially those who may otherwise feel isolated or struggle to access transport.

Every donation helps us continue providing these essential services and brings us one step closer to securing new accessible vans that will support our community for years to come.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who donated, supported, encouraged, shared our fundraiser, and cheered us on throughout the challenge. This truly shows the power of community coming together 💙

Tomorrows the day — arriving at Keswick Mountain Festival ready for the 8 Peaks hike. 🥾⛰️

This challenge is about more than the miles for me. I’m walking to raise awareness of the vital role community transport plays in people’s lives.

I’m incredibly grateful that I’m still able to walk, hike and enjoy the freedom of my mobility. But so many people don’t have that freedom and rely on community transport to get to appointments, clubs, groups and social activities — the very things that help combat loneliness and social isolation.

Community transport is more than just a lift from A to B. It’s connection, independence, friendship and support.

Feeling thankful, reflective and ready for the challenge ahead. Let’s do this. 💚

Sedcat is raising funds to support its valued work, and we need your help!

We’re hosting a Plant Sale on Saturday 6 June, and we’re looking for donations of plants, seedlings, and cuttings, anything you can spare from your garden or home.

💚 Got extras? Ask your friends and neighbours too!
🏷️ Please label each plant with its name, variety, and flower colour if you can.
