This morning we hosted our last session of songs and smiles before the christmas break. It was a lovely morning filled with christmas songs that got everybody moving. Residents enjoyed spending time after the session cuddling the children and chatting with their parents. We hope they all have a lovely christmas and look forward to welcoming them back in the new year.

What another lovely day had by all here at Handsworth. To celebrate chocolate covered everything day, we spent the morning making christmas themed chocolate covered marshmallows. Followed by an afternoon of singing with The Alma Singers Choir, where we listened to songs such as love changes everything and marys boy child, along with being encouraged to join in with some popular carols.

On Friday we had the pleasure of having children from Bollin kid collective visit Handsworth and sing some Christmas songs with our residents. We handed out Christmas cards to the children along with some chocolate treats. We are hoping to have them back in the new year. Click on the ling below to see pictures from their visit.

We have had a wondeful Christmassy afternoon here at Handsworth. We welcomed Berni back to perform a range of songs for us while we enjoyed our Christmas party. There was mulled wine and mince pies along with a small buffet. Some of our residents even enjoyed a dance with staff. It was a lovely way to spend a friday afternoon.

Last night we were joined by Bowdon Beavers who performed a range of christmas songs for our residents. It was lovely to see the residents joining in with the festivities. After the performance the children and residents enjoyed a hot chocolates before handing out hand made christmas cards and chocolates. All of our residents enjoyed the evening and stated it had made them feel very christmassy.

Residents Joan and Bill enjoyed a lovely walk in the community this morning. We spent time admiring the Christmas decorations on the houses on our route , along with enjoying the fresh air. It was a lovely way to work up our appetite for lunch.

Continuing our festive activities, this afternoon for Treat Wednesday residents enjoyed a glass of eggnog along with some yuel log. Judging by the empty glasses and plates they were enjoyed by all.

Today we celebrated Mary’s birthday. Mary received cards and gifts from all at Handsworth along with a cake made by our talented chef Amanda. Many happy returns Mary from all at Handsworth 🎂
