Repeat medication ordering by email and telephone

18/08/2025

The Practice telephone system is now working as normal.

18/08/2025

The Practice is currently experiencing a fault with our telephone lines. Our provider is aware of the issue and is working to fix the fault. Should you require to speak with someone in the Practice please attend in person. We hope the issue will be resolved quickly. We will provide a further update when the telephone system is operational again. We apologise for any inconvenience which may be caused.

REMINDER - SHOW DAY - Wednesday 6th August 2025

The GP premises will be closed from 1pm until 6pm on Show Day. For urgent medical advice between these times, you should still contact your practice by telephone. Please make sure you collect any medication from your practice prior to 1pm.

IMPROVED PATIENT ACCESS FOR REQUESTING REPEAT MEDICATION ITEMS

We have updated our telephone system to offer patients the option to request repeat medication 24 hours per day, (including weekends and public holidays).

When ordering repeat medication, callers are asked to select where they would like to collect their medication - Islay Pharmacy, Port Ellen Surgery or the Rhinns Medical Centre - then leave a message with their name, date of birth, and a list of items they would like to order.

Practice staff will process the requests at the earliest opportunity. Please do ensure that a minimum of two working days' notice is provided, in order to ensure items not in stock are delivered to the Practice. If you require medication more urgently, please follow the steps to speak to a member of our team.

Please be assured that repeat medication is still able to be ordered in person, or by returning the reorder slip.

We hope that the introduction of the repeat medication ordering line will be beneficial to our patients, allowing medication to be ordered at a time suitable to each individual.

We also hope that the new ordering arrangements will minimise the number of items being dispensed which are not required, and also improve telephone access to patients contacting the Practice for other purposes.
