Pregnant or not in this gorgeous sunshine don't forget to 'Laugh, sing, dance and glow, let the oxytocin flow!' We all need lots of the lovely feel-good hormone oxytocin within us to make us feel calm and relaxed, so my advice to you today, is to take 5 minutes to yourself and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Don't forget to take a deep breath and repeat until you feel your shoulders relax.

Just take a little breather and do something which helps you to be calm and relaxed, whether that be laughing, singing or dancing etc.

Have you done your Pelvic Floor exercises today?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Your pelvic floor strength is super important and not to be overlooked! 💪
Your pelvic floor is a hammock of muscles that supports your bladder and bowels and supports natural birth, postnatal recovery, bladder control, sexual function and more. During pregnancy due to the pressure of carrying a baby, it’s under significant strain. Post-birth incontinence or prolapse is not something you should suffer with despite the jokes about jumping on a trampoline. Please seek assistance from a specialist physio if this is happening.

Pelvic floor exercises can be done as soon as 24 hours post-birth depending on how your birth went, so your midwife will advise you. They can be done at any time and anywhere. Building up how long you can contract your muscles over time.

For specific instruction and advice please seek a local pelvic specialist physio or women's health physio.
Mummy MOT is a great women's health physio where you will find your local specialist who will assess your pelvic floor and give you specific exercises.

There are apps such as NHS Squeezy App to remind you and record your progress.

Do you struggle with your pelvic floor? 👇

Random top tip for labour!Wear your sunglasses!!

I know it sounds odd and like the last thing you would think of during labour, but Oxytocin hormone is your birthing hormone which increases not only when you are relaxed, but greatly increases in darker environments.

So whilst driving into the hospital pop your sunglasses on to darken your environment and rid yourself of the sunshine and think about wearing them also inside the hospital, to darken all the bright lights, particularly the bright corridor lights.

Did you do this? Are you planning to do this? Drop me a comment below.

No, I don't mean anchors on a boat 🙈 I mean the type of anchors that are linked to relaxation acting as a shortcut. 😃You probably encounter a type of anchor every day without realising it. Have you ever turned the radio on and heard an old song that brought back memories or feelings you experience whilst on a holiday or from an event a long time ago?

For me, hearing the song 'Don't stop me now' by Queen quickly relaxes me, makes me happy and reminds me of my amazing Wedding day, as we walked back up the aisle as Mr & Mrs to this piece of music. ❤️

🤰🏻 In pregnancy and labour anchors are a wonderful tool to aid quick relaxation, so what ideas could you use? Here are a few suggestions:

🎶 Favourite music that makes you happy and relaxed
👃🏻 Favourite smells
💆‍♀️ Touch and massage
🌓 Low lighting
📢 The soothing voice on the MP3s I send to you as part of your Hypnobirthing course
👍 and many more...

All the anchors connect, so doing a few at the same time, will strengthen the power of those anchors.

If you're interested in learning more about anchors and other tools that a Hypnobirthing course can provide, to aid a positive, informed and empowered birth, then please send me a DM. Or email me at: calmhappymamauk@gmail.com

Are you hoping to have a waterbirth? Or perhaps you've already experienced one. Some people love to birth in water and others may not and that's ok. There are many benefits so swipe across to read now.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀With my second daughter, I planned for a water birth and did just that which was amazing. Although my Hypnobirthing breathing techniques were working so well, I was progressing rather quickly, and my midwife almost didn't get the pool filled up in time. Thankfully she did and it was heavenly, especially at the transition stage. I birthed with ease whilst in the water and was in love (and awe) that I could pick my baby girl up, who was in the water to place her onto my chest, with a midwife quickly covering her back with a towel so we were snuggled. Utter bliss and a moment I will never forget and cherish forever.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My body is simply amazing and so is yours.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I would love it if you could share with me your own experiences of water births or tell me if you plan to birth in the water, so please comment below.

Hypnobirthing has lots of benefits, one of which is preventing tearing. So how can you do this?

💜Using the breathing techniques I teach during the sessions allows you to remain calm and relaxed...

💜Following your body and natural instincts enables your body to prepare and stretch naturally...

💜Allowing your birthing hormones to help do the work, whilst you remain calm and relaxed...

💜Knowing how to be in control of your birthing hormones to be in control of your body...

💜Pushing too soon and not waiting for your body's natural expulsion reflex to kick in will cause you to tear...

💜I can show you various positions which can help during birth plus talk about the benefits of perennial massage and how to do it.

💜Hypnobirthing can reduce the need for interventions such as episiotomy etc.

Hello Hello to all my lovely followers, old and new.Thought I would introduce myself and give you 3 interesting facts too.

I'm married with two gorgeous daughters aged 8 years old and 3 years old, living in Brackley, South Northamptonshire. I started Calm Happy Mama because I'm passionate about helping others to have an informed, empowered and positive birth, just as I experienced when birthing my youngest. Thanks to the fantastic course teachers, my midwife and a Hypnobirthing book I read, I wouldn't be here today typing this.
So here I am wanting to help you, or perhaps I already have. I want to be your support, to help you understand how your body can birth your baby and to teach you how to be positive and informed of your rights and choices.

3️⃣ things you may not know about me are:

⭐️ Last year I took part in a charity Strictly Pantomime (yes you guessed it, a mix of Ballroom and Latin with pantomime) and Strictly Towcester competition helping a lovely man learn to dance. So this year is about myself, hence why I'm going to challenge myself and work towards my Bronze Ballroom & Latin medal in the next few weeks.

⭐️ I love books! Up till the end of last year, I had taken to listening to audiobooks the previous 7 years since becoming a Mama. Now I'm slowly finding time to also read physical books, which is lovely. If you have any recommendations please send them my way.

⭐️ I have another successful retail business, which is totally unrelatable to the birthing world.

Please tell me a little about yourself, an interesting fact or a simple hello, so drop me a comment below. ⬇

Learning how to relax with breathing techniques is key for the following reasons:✨ to calm your body's nervous system down
✨ to be in control of your birthing hormones, resulting in you being in control during labour
✨ to breath confidently through each contraction, being one step nearer to meeting your baby
✨ stops freeze, flight or fight response kicking in (this increases adrenaline which you don't want)

I can teach you amazing breathing techniques which we practice during our sessions together and you further that practice in your own time and whilst listening to the relaxing MP3's.

Please get in touch if you would like to know how I can help you.

Hypnobirthing is not a type of birth....it is a full antenatal education providing you with knowledge and practical tools useful in all types of birth. So you could use to same Hypnobirthing tools in a homebirth, as you would in a hospital birth in the delivery suite (with or without any pain relief) and even a caesarean which surprises most.Knowledge informs you, helping you to get rid of any fears (alongside other techniques which I can show you), arming you to have an empowered and positive birth, regardless of the type of birth.

Each birthing person and birth is different, so having learnt Hypnobirthing equips you with a toolkit with both mindset and practical tools, that help you to be calm, relaxed and more in control. You do not have to use them all or in a specific order. It is your birth and your toolkit to use as you wish.
