Use it, lose it, or... move it and groove it? 💃
​Let’s be honest: as the birthdays add up, that old expression "use it or lose it" starts feeling less like a cliché and more like a gentle warning. But exercise shouldn’t feel like a chore you’re checking off a list just to stay functional.
​If we want to stay mobile, we have to make movement non-negotiable—and the easiest way to do that is to make it fun.
​
​The Goal: Keep the body moving so it remembers how to.
​Movement is a celebration of what your body can do so let's keep those joints oiled and those spirits high!

Furry Friends & Familiar Faces 🐾
​We had a truly wonderful afternoon welcoming Lucia’s Tiny Farm to our home! From cuddly guinea pigs to a very patient tortoise, there was no shortage of gentle animal friends to meet.
​The highlight of the day had to be John. As a former farmer, he’s spent most of his life shooing away "pests." He gave us all a laugh when he found himself cradling Socks the rat!
​"I never imagined I'd be holding one, let alone finding her so sweet," John shared.
​It just goes to show that you're never too old for a change of heart or a new friend. Thank you, Lucia’s Tiny Farm, for bringing so much joy and laughter to our residents today! 🐰💛

☀️ Sunshine, Singing, and Sandwiches! 🎶
​What a way to kick off our first session back after the Easter break! The sun was beaming, and the energy in the room was even brighter. Everyone returned in fine form, raring to go and ready to make some noise.
​🎤 From Abba to Sea Shanties
​We covered a bit of everything today! Our voices carried us through:
​The Classics: A spirited rendition of The Lambeth Walk.
​The Hits: Grooving to Abba and Tony Christie.
​The Sea: A rousing sea shanty that had everyone involved.
​Whether it was clapping hands, toe-tapping, or some serious floor-stomping, the rhythm was definitely infectious!
​❤️ Heartwarming Moments
​It’s more than just the music; it’s the connection.
​"I do enjoy having a sing," shared Morffy, a long-time choir veteran.
​Margaret was also glowing, telling us how glad she was that she decided to join us today. We’re so glad you did, too!
​🥪 Tea, Cake, and Catch-ups
​We wrapped up the morning the best way we know how: with a spread of finger sandwiches, delicious cake, and plenty of chatter.
​It was particularly special for Richard, who loved catching up with familiar faces. He was surprised by how many people remembered him, but as the saying goes: Once met, never forgotten!

​Our weekly Love to Move sessions are always full of surprises! While we love keeping things fresh with new exercises every week, we always make sure to squeeze in the "crowd favourites" that get everyone smiling.
​It’s not all just fun and games, though—we’re definitely putting in the work! As Fiona said at the end of the class:
​"I really feel like I have had a workout!" Mission accomplished, Fiona! 💪 Physical activity, brain games, and a whole lot of laughter—that’s how we roll.

Fields of gold ✨ ✨️
​The perfect backdrop for our recent outing to the Flight Deck Café in Brackley! ✈️ With the spring sunshine out in full force, we couldn’t have asked for a better day to sit back, grab a drink, and enjoy those panoramic runway views.
​The airfield was buzzing with life—from bunnies hopping on the lawn to families and pups enjoying the fresh air. 🐾 🐰
​Highlights of the day:
​Fred took his role as "Flight Controller" seriously, keeping a close eye on the runway! 🛫
​May had a wonderful surprise, bumping into an old friend and their dog for a lovely catch-up. ☀️
​A truly relaxed, cheerful afternoon with plenty of smiles all around. 🌼☕

The Rainbow Lounge was full of laughter and friendly competition recently! 🎯
​After our Daily Sparkle session, the conversation turned to first driving lessons and old cars. Jean had us all in stitches with a story from her army days—apparently, changing a truck tyre is harder than it looks! 🛞 “I didn’t realise how heavy it would be… I fell head first!” she laughed.
​The high spirits carried over into a darts tournament. The Red team started strong, but John secured the win for the Yellow team with a brilliant 78-point finish! 🏆
​A lovely afternoon of shared memories and friendly rivalry. 💛

To all those living with Dementia and their carers/friends please join us for our twice-monthly Memory Café on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 2pm to 4pm. Refreshments will be served. This is a free event snd open to all. No need to book, just arrive. Parking right outside.
