A nationwide test of the UK’s emergency alert service will take place at 3pm on Sunday 7 September 2025. The alerts will warn you if there’s a danger to life nearby, such as flooding or fires.

How to opt out

iPhones and Android phones

Search your settings for ‘emergency alerts’.
Turn off ‘severe alerts’ and ‘extreme alerts’.
Other mobile phones and tablets
Depending on the manufacturer and software version of your phone, emergency alerts settings may be called different names, such as ‘wireless emergency alerts’ or ‘emergency broadcasts’.

The settings can usually be found in one of the following ways. Go to:

‘message’, then ‘message settings, then ‘wireless emergency alerts’, then ‘alert’
‘settings’, then ‘sounds’, then ‘advanced’, then ‘emergency broadcasts’
‘settings’, then ‘general settings’, then ‘emergency alerts’
Then turn off ‘severe alerts’, ‘extreme alerts’ and ‘test alerts’.

Get ready to Activate this summer! ☀️

Joe Wicks is launching a brand-new workout series, ‘Activate’, full of high-energy, fun, 5-minute workout ‘Challenges’ to keep kids active.

The Challenges bring together new characters and bright animation, with well-known upbeat tracks from exclusive music partners.

Activate is backed by Department of Health and Social Care - DHSC, Department for Education, Department for Culture, Media and Sport as part of a new partnership to reach families and schools across the country.

⭐Auction of Promises at Wi******er House School 12th July 2025⭐

B is a Brackley-based charity founded to address the urgent need for local mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people. Working directly with Brackley schools, B delivers age-appropriate services.
The charity is expanding to support parents, teachers, and non-school-attending children, and is hosting a fundraising event and charity auction to sustain and grow its vital work.

Brackley Medical Centre is proud to support B-yourself, a charity set up by BMC GPs to support the mental health of children and young people in Brackley - through work in the Brackley primary schools and at MCS.

They would love to expand their work, and are fundraising to raise money to increase their work in schools and to support children not currently in school - a group of children and young people with real needs in Brackley.

📢 Update on Weight Loss Injections (e.g. Tirzepatide / Mounjaro)

You may have seen news that Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) will be available on the NHS from 23rd June 2025.

⚠️ However, we’ve not yet received local guidance from Northamptonshire’s Integrated Care Board (ICB) on whether GP practices will be able to prescribe this.

These medications must be part of a full support programme, including:
✅ Nutritional advice
✅ Increased physical activity
✅ Meeting specific eligibility criteria

🛑 Until we receive local approval, we are unable to offer this treatment from 23rd June, despite the national announcement.

Please do not contact the practice about this yet. We’ll share an update as soon as we know more.

In the meantime, the NHS Better Health website offers great tools to support:
