JMS owner and trainer, Jan Southam is an experienced first aid trainer with a background of working within the Ambulance service, Over the last 15 years Jan has delivered courses to a wide variety of clients including Doctors and Dental surgeries, Schools, Nurseries and many Blue chip companies. Jan, in her spare time, works as an FREC 4 event medic and Community First Responder for East Midlands Ambulance service. Business Partner, Sarah O'Neill ,as well as being an experienced first aid trainer, specialises in Mental Health courses, Healthcare Professional courses and Understanding Neurodiversity. She will also be working to expand the business into further territories including Wellingborough, Kettering and surrounding areas. Her interest in positive psychology and neuroscience enables her to embed the latest research into her classes ensuring a full and relevant learning experience for her delegates. She is a bundle of energy who can deliver fully immersive training ensuring her learners leave with a smile on their face.

Another exciting day with Jan and Amy teaching our Mini Medics 🙌🩺

At JMS First Aid Training, we love showing children that first aid isn’t scary, it’s empowering. Teaching first aid at a young age helps children build confidence, learn how to stay calm in an emergency, and understand how to help themselves or others when it really matters.

It’s always a pleasure working with children and helping them learn vital life skills in a fun, age appropriate way.

At JMS First Aid Training, we regularly remind organisations and communities to:
✅ Check AED batteries and pads are in date
✅ Make sure the AED is fully operational
✅ Ensure it’s accessible and clearly signposted
✅ Have people trained and confident to use it

With freezing temperatures across the UK, it’s important to know the signs of hypothermia and how to act fast.

⚠️ What to look out for:
• Uncontrollable shivering
• Cold, pale or blue-tinged skin
• Slurred speech
• Slow breathing or pulse
• Confusion or drowsiness

🚨What to do:
• Move the person to a warm, dry place
• Remove wet clothing
• Wrap them in blankets or coats
• Give warm, sweet drinks if conscious
• Call 999 if symptoms are severe
