This is one of the biggest misconceptions…

Yes—acupuncture is *amazing* for pain.
Backs, shoulders, headaches, injuries… it works brilliantly.

**But that’s only part of the story.**

In Chinese Medicine, we don’t just treat symptoms…
we look at the whole person

Which means acupuncture can also support:

✨ Sleep — helping you fall asleep and stay asleep
✨ Stress & anxiety — calming the nervous system

This is a big one…

And it’s completely understandable to question it 💭

But acupuncture isn’t *just* about belief.

It has been used for thousands of years—and now we also understand more about **how it works in the body**.

Research shows acupuncture can:

👉 Stimulate the nervous system
👉 Trigger the release of endorphins (your body’s natural painkillers)
👉 Improve blood flow and reduce inflammation
👉 Help regulate stress responses and the autonomic nervous system

So while you might feel relaxed on the treatment bed (which people often think is the “placebo” part 😅)…

And interestingly…

Let’s be honest… it’s probably the thing that puts most people off 😅

But the reality is very different from what you might expect…

**Acupuncture needles are incredibly fine**
✨ About the thickness of a human hair
✨ Solid—not hollow like injections
✨ Designed to be gentle and precise

So what does it actually feel like?

Most people experience:
👉 A tiny sensation as the needle goes in
👉 A dull, heavy, or warm feeling (this is *exactly* what we want in Chinese Medicine)
👉 Or sometimes… nothing at all

That dull sensation is known as **“De Qi”**—it’s a sign the body is responding and the treatment is working 💚

And then something interesting happens…

Your body starts to relax.
Your nervous system shifts.
And before you know it… you’re drifting off 😴

I’ve had so many people come in nervous about the needles and say afterwards:

It’s one of the first questions I get asked…
And the honest answer is:

It depends.

Because everyone is different—and so is what your body needs

But here’s a general guide to help you understand:

✨ **Acute issues** (recent pain, injury, headaches)
→ Often 3–6 sessions close together

✨ Chronic conditions** (ongoing pain, hormones, sleep, stress)
→ Usually 6–10+ sessions to see lasting change

✨ Maintenance & wellbeing
→ Every few weeks or seasonally to stay balanced

Why more than one session?

Because acupuncture works by **building change over time**.
Each treatment supports the next—helping your body gradually rebalance, rather than forcing a quick fix.

How many acupuncture sessions will I need? 🤍✨

One of the most common questions I get asked… and the truth is:

👉 It depends on you.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we don’t just look at symptoms — we look at the whole person.

As the saying goes:
“When there is free flow, there is no pain. When there is no free flow, there is pain.”

Acupuncture works by gently restoring that flow… and that takes a different amount of time for everyone.



✨ As a rough guide:

What does “professional” actually look like to me…?

It’s not about being stiff or formal…
It’s about how you show up—for yourself and for your clients

For me, being professional looks like:

✨ Creating a calm, welcoming space the moment you walk in
✨ Listening properly—not rushing, not half-present
✨ Running on time (because your time matters too)
✨ Giving 100% to every single treatment
✨ Continuing to learn and improve what I offer
✨ Being honest about what you need (not just what you want to hear)
✨ Keeping clear boundaries so I can show up at my best

It’s the little things…
The consistency…
The care behind what I do every day.

What I have been up to lately when I have had a day off....

Squeezing as much as I can in when I feel able to and when I need rest days, I rest, no guilt, no compromise just time for me to recover fully.

So recently its looked like this ..

✨ 24 hours in Gothenburg, Sweden — including the most amazing spa
✨ A day in London — walking across the top of Tower Bridge ( trying to conquer my fear of heights) and visiting the Sky Garden
✨ Fossil hunting at Bracklesham Bay (yes… like a big kid , but lots of fun)
✨ A glass fusing class with my Mum (something completely different!)
✨ An acupuncture conference (because I do love learning!)
✨ Reading in the garden
✨ And lots of daily walking to clear my head and spend time in nature

And sometimes…
✨ Doing absolutely nothing at all
Because **that matters just as much.**
When we don’t take time out…
We get tired
We get overwhelmed
We lose our spark
Rest isn’t being lazy.

REMEMBER _
📍Time with family and friends? Priceless
📍Trying something new or going somewhere you’ve never been? That’s where the magic happens ✨
📍And doing nothing… that counts too. That’s how we stay well.

🌹 Happy St George’s Day 🌹

Today is a celebration of England—its history, its traditions, and the quiet strength that runs through it.

St George is known for courage, resilience, and standing strong in the face of challenge… and I think that’s something we can all relate to in our own way.

Not every “dragon” we face is obvious.
Sometimes it’s stress, burnout, poor sleep, hormones feeling all over the place, or just the pace of life.

But strength doesn’t always look loud or dramatic…
✨ Sometimes it’s choosing to rest
✨ Saying no when you need to
✨ Taking time for yourself
✨ Asking for support

That’s real strength too.
