🎄 Coping with Festive Season Anxiety and Overwhelm 🎄
The festive season can be magical, but let’s face it—sometimes it can feel too much. Endless to-do lists, social obligations and invitations, and the pressure to make everything perfect can leave us feeling stressed and overwhelmed.
Here are 6 simple tips from our Clinical Hypnotherapist, Linda Flanigan, to ease anxiety and manage overwhelm during this holiday period.
⭐️Set healthy limits for your own well-being ⭐️
You don’t have to accept every invitation or do what everyone else wants you to. You need time to recharge your batteries so it’s fine to stick to those things that are really meaningful to you and say no to the rest..
⭐️Breathe deeply⭐️
When overwhelm hits, press the pause button. Spend a few minutes each day taking some calm deep breaths. Inhale through the nose for a count of four, hold for four, exhale through the mouth for six. Repeat until you feel calmer.
⭐️Stay in the Moment⭐️
Don’t get sucked into “what ifs” and “shoulds”. Focus on what you are doing right now rather than worrying about what’s ahead.
⭐️Self-care First⭐️
Find time for yourself to decompress mentally, it’s not a luxury, it’s necessary. Have a quiet walk, stretch the body, read a good book, listen to some music or just spend a few moments enjoying a cuppa. Remember, “you can’t pour from an empty cup”.
⭐️Break Down Tasks⭐️
Feeling overwhelmed? Tackle things on your to do list one step at a time. Small, manageable actions can make even the busiest days feel doable.
⭐️Visualisation⭐️
Imagine yourself calm, confident and relaxed in the situations that usually trigger stress. Visualisation isn’t just daydreaming – it’s a proven way to rewire your brain and prepare for success. A few minutes of this daily can make a big difference.
